1880s Mail-Order Banjo

I recently restored this circa 1880 mail-order banjo. It came to me with loose, broken tuning pegs, a busted head and a small crack in the fingerboard.

I have a fretless eagle bracket similar to that. Fun to play! Mine was missing that thimble piece. I made one out of a drawer pull and worked it down to where it is a very close copy.

2018-12-11 02:05:52 +0000 UTCYes, I'd better do that--usually always show that in one of these photos. On this banjo the dowel comes all the way through the bottom of the rim and they have a little tin thimble-shaped piece which covers it and is secured by a flat-head slotted screw.
