Thanks, Jorge. I will sometimes transition from down-picking to up-picking while playing the "double shuffle" filler notes between verses. It's not necessary to transition to up-picking as I do, and even sometimes I don't. For an explanation of the double shuffle technique, see this video: https://youtu.be/pK5_3xGkVAk

Clifton: firstly, thank you SO MUCH for all your work on these tutorials...they have really made me a better banjo player. Question for you: in the beginning of the video when you are playing, are you shifting from downstriking and up picking with your index? If so, any thoughts on how to develop that fluidity in technique? Thanks!
