Kentucky-style Mountain Banjo

Trying real hard to make an east Kentucky style mountain banjo. These are a little trickier than the typical NC/TN style consisting of three boards stacked around a metal ring.

The pot is all poplar (middle part is just darker). The neck is black walnut. Standard scale.

You're a busy man Clifton! Looking forward to hearing it!

Oh for goodness sakes Clifton..the government is paying you to hunt for woolly mammoths..not build tricky banjos

Joanne Baum

Looks labor-intensive.

What materials are you using for the pot. I'm guessing poplar by the looks of it. Can’t make out your core material. Mahogany neck? What’s the scale length?

Looks damn fine!
