William, if you'll email me directly at clifhicks@gmail.com I will respond with all of the gCGCD tabs.

Clifton Hicks

Clifton, this is such cool sounding piece. It's pretty easy to follow the tabs. Can you recommend any other double C songs you have tabs for?

William Maderas

Clifton, you touched on the thing I like about your teaching the most. That is how you don’t pick apart songs note for note and you don’t expect us to either. You lead us in the right direction and we can make it our own. Thanks for the laid back approach

clifton, that must be what it is... i think that quick opening of the hand along with the brush is making the brush stroke come in just a bit early time wise....and its creating what i think they refer to as drive in the bluegrass world... it sounds great.... im trying to get it but its going to take some time i guess..if u could do a short video that would be great ! thanks again !

Neil W Burke

Neil, I may have to devote a short video to that. I probably picked up that habit from George Gibson, who seems to have two main ways of doing it. The way you're describing (I think) is accomplished by quickly opening the hand after down-picking your melody note, extending the fingers and allowing all them to sharply brush across all (or most) of the strings.

Hi Clifton ! thanks for posting these videos! im new to your style of playing and am really enjoying it... i have a question about how you get that really raspy sounding strum when you do overhand..is it just how you strum down with all four fingers or are you muting the strings a little with your palm? or could it be because your banjo has nylgut strings that gives it that sound ? thanks for all your help !

Neil W Burke

Glad to hear it. I find myself playing more and more two finger lately, getting back into my earlier style before I know how to overhand pick.

Clifton Hicks

Love it, thank you! I'm having a great time alternating between two finger and overhand with this tune. I knew very little two finger until I started watching your videos so thank you for that as well!

Thanks Clif! A question, where's a good place to start with the two finger rolls? They always seem to muss me up.
