2020-07-30 22:50:51 +0000 UTCAlan, I've not heard of Simon Kenton. The best 18th-century frontiersman's memoir I've ever read is called Thirty Years A Hunter by Philip Tomb. His father was a German immigrant and Revolutionary War veteran who, like many veterans in that period, moved his family into the Appalachian Mountains (what was then the "Western Frontier"). Tomb's family were flatland farmers who knew nothing of hunting, guns, or Indians--they learned quickly. He goes into great detail on many fascinating subjects, including the famous Iroquois chief Cornplanter, with whom he became friends later in life.

Also, are you familiar with the stories of Simon Kenton/Shawnees in The Frontiersman? Along with Kentucky being sacred Indian hunting grounds. Looking forward to next Outlaw Session!
