"Jubilee" *NEW* 2-Finger Banjo Lesson (with tab!)

 gDGCD relative (fCFB♭C actual):

Coffee grows on white oak trees
River flows with brandy,
I've got a gal who's mighty fine
Sweet as sugar candy

CHORUS
Swing and turn Jubilee,
Live and learn Jubilee

If I had no gal at all
You could find me crawling,
Up and down these soggy roads
Looking for my darling...

Saddle up the old grey mare
Who shall be her rider?
We'll go down to the old still house
Get a jug of cider...

Some come by on Saturday
Some come by on Sunday,
If you give me half a chance
I'll be back on Monday...

I can't find the lyrics that you sing...any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Dennis Litto Jr.

Glad to hear it! 💘

CLIFTON!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I just now got to this and I wish you could have seen me literally laughing out loud with joy as I picked out the tab and, behold, it's Jubilee! I can't believe it! This was one of the first videos of yours I ever saw--in fact one of the first old time videos I ever saw and probably the first two finger--and I've tried to learn it for so many years. Boom, there it is. This is also the first time I've learned a new song on my banjo in years and I'm feeling so inspired. You are a gift!

Sarah Nichols

So good! Thank you for all that you do Cliff. Been following for awhile sort of as just a listener while I was studying Scruggs style. I recently learned Beaver Dam Road and cant wait to learn this one next 👍

Robin, there is a little machine cog symbol toward the bottom right of the Youtube player. If you click that a menu pops up with several options. One of these reads "Playback speed." When you click that, you can slow the video down quit a bit.

Clifton Hicks

I love this tune, and I'm so glad to be able to learn it. I can't seem to get the rhythm down for the finger picking, is there a chance you could make a short video to go over that a bit more slowly? I'm having a hard time matching your rhythm, even with the close up section of this video, play/pausing, but not quite getting the gist. Thank you!

Sarah, I love your music!

Clifton! This is one of the first tunes of yours that I fell in love with on YouTube! I’m excited to work on this in two finger style, THANKS!! ❤️

Cindy Barrett Gilchrist

Thanks for the feedback, Willem. I've been trying to be "up front" with the basic close-up. I usually sneak in extra ones toward the middle or end of the video as well, showing instrumental runs or alternate approaches.

Clifton Hicks

Awesome, really appreciate you starting it with the close up play through first!

Willem Ellis

nice ! im still trying to get beaver dam road down pat ! but ill get there eventually.... lol...and how about i already remember seeing sarahs video of angeline the baker with her little duo friend accompanying her on vocals...thats a great video that i really loved ! and thanks for sharing your playing style ! its awesome!

I do try to go as slowly as I can. Admittedly, it is difficult "teaching" 950 musicians! I've considered just sticking to just one or two lessons per month, but my mind just won't stick to any type of schedule. So much of what I selfishly love about this project is that I am learning just as much as I'm teaching--this drives me forward (sometimes rapidly).

Clifton Hicks

I’m not complaining at the incredible value you’re providing for my $2, but I’ll never keep up with the speed you put these out! I’m slow. I’m sure the other banjo-wizards here are much faster than I am though.
