"Little Gray Mule" (The Wild Boar) Lesson

fB♭FBC ~ gCGCD. I learned "Little Grey Mule" (The Wild Boar) from a 1960s film clip of Roscoe Holcomb of Daisy, Kentucky. Watch the original clip here:

Recording of Holcomb's version: https://youtu.be/ujeRwzIjqOs

If anyone knows where to find the film clip of Holcomb, please share it here as I've lost it. There are 4 or 5 videos on YouTube of me playing it which are easy to find.

Thanks a lot. I have suspected that he used gCGCE for that piece, but never looked closely to confirm. I think you're right.

im staring at that video of roscoe a long time now - i reckon he's actually in gCGCE weirdly enough (but in the vid he's about a half step flat)- note that at around 11:20 he doesnt seem to be hammering onto the 7th fret on the high bit on the first string he's actually hammering onto the fifth fret from the third. also when you play it like that its a lot easier to reach the low bits as your first string is already there as an e ready for the pull off edit: obviously im just trying it for the first time there so its very rusty but melody wise this is what it sounds like in that tuning https://youtu.be/NGDtM8L8g44
