"Brother Green" (The Dying Soldier) Lesson

I learned "brother Green" (The Dying Soldier) from a recording of Rev. Buell Kazee of Magoffin County, Kentucky. My instrument is a 1940s Gretsch Bacon "Belmont" banjo tuned fCFAC ~ gDGBD.

I do. Can't help but feel that way.

I just saw the American Veteran Podcast and I was wondering if you ever feel a sort of personal connection with these songs from the soldiers of old

Captain Christian

La Bella definitely makes a superior string. I am going to use La Bella 17 on this 1940s Bacon banjo, but for now am keeping Aquila on the Luscomb. Aquila is not as good...

Hey there Mr. Hicks. In the performance video you posted, you have in the description that your banjo is strung with La Bella 17s: does that mean that your 4th string is wound? Just curious, as I keep snapping my aquilas for some reason. Might check those La Bellas out.

I was in a class this week and was told asking where someone is from, when you first meet/greet them, like people do in the south is now a micro-agression......

wonder what the cultural root of Buell's last name "Kazee" is?
