"Sally Brown" Lesson

I learned "Sally Brown" from 1980s recording of Andy Irvine, Dónal Lunny, and Christy Moore. My instrument is a 1940s Bacon "Belmont" banjo tuned ~ gCGCD.

I shipped on board of a Liverpool liner

Way, hey, roll and go!

So we rolled all night and we rolled till the day

But I spent my money on old Sally Brown!

Sally Brown is a fine young lady...

She's tall and she's dark but she's not too shady...

Her mother doesn't like no tarry sailor...

Sally wouldn't wed me so I shipped across the water...

Now I am courting Sally's daughter...

I shipped on board of a Liverpool liner...

Iris, I have not made a "Cluck Old Hen" tab yet. COMING SOON!

Clifton Hicks

I just joined and wonder if you can help? You have a great 2 finger easy banjo lesson on YT and I’m looking for the tabs to Cluck Old Hen in F sawmill tuning.

Iris Gray

Thanks, Josh. Fixed it.

Clif, it seems the tab is on the patreon as a jpg not a actual PDF.

WOOPS. Isn't Andy Irvine from England? That confuses me.

Just to mention, Clif...Planxty were an Irish rather than an English band. An important distinction in this part of the world. ;)

Hi Cliff, I like your concept of a banjo sea shanty. It has a wonderful sound to it which reminds me of Irish pieces (which is probably intentional). I'm gonna start learning this right away.
