I don't know of any kits, but literally anyone could make this tone ring with heavy gauge brass/copper wire and strip of sheet metal for the shoe pieces.

I read somewhere that by this time Buckbee had been absorbed into Gretsch, or some other New York maker. I think it was 1898 or something like that?

Is there any retro fit kits like that around these days? Would be a good way to jazz up a cheap old banjo. I just came across an old SS Stewart with a goosed old nut. Made one out of an old oak offcut and am pretty pleased with myself too. Always fun making something work again for no cost. Nice video Clifton.
