Alabama Bound - Lesson

In this video I explain how to play my original banjo arrangement of "Alabama Bound" using traditional two-finger as well as overhand (clawhammer) techniques.

I derived my version from old recordings of "Papa" Charlie Jackson and Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter. My instrument is an 1888 Thompson & Odell 1st model "The Luscomb" banjo tuned fCFAC ~ gDGBD. I'm using La Bella nylon strings and a Joel Hooks bridge.

Charlie, I use 6B. Oddly, both 5B and 7B are heavier.

Hi Clifton, could you tell me what gauge Aquilla Nylgut strings you use for lower tunings? Thanks Charlie

This one came very naturally with a few different embellishments thanks Clifton I could really work on my singin as well with these lyrics repeating the same line one deep and one high.
