"Black Velvet Band" Lesson (gCGBD)

"Black Velvet Band" was sung in England as early as the 1780s. I learned it from a 1960s recording of Luke Kelly of Dublin, Ireland. My instrument is an early 2000s Terry Bell minstrel banjo tuned.

My exact tuning = d#G#D#GBb

Historical equivalent = eAEG#B

Modern equivalent = gCGBD

Amazing singing. Also, I like your new editing format with the tunings added in as well as a little clip of your dogs for fun.

I'm trying to work up a brush stroke version of another 3/4 song Luke Kelly sang called Raglan road. Mark O Connor recently put up a beatiful version with Peter rowan singing on youtube. Thanks for the lesson Clifton.
