"South Australia" Performance & Tablature

β€œBlimey, I think I’m slipping my cable. Strike up South Australia, lads, and let me go happy.”

I learned "South Australia" (Roud 325) from an anonymous drunk in St. Augustine, Florida. As far as I know, the song first appeared in print during the 1880s.

My instrument is an early 2000s fretless minstrel banjo by Terry Bell tuned ~ eAEAB.

One of my all-time favorites. Just heard a shantyman singing the same tune at the Mystic Seaport and had to learn it. You sang it best.

It'd be funny if that anonymous drunk was a patreon member
