Update!
Added 2024-06-29 17:28:05 +0000 UTCHello folks, quick general life update here as I notice some trends.
It’s summer! I don’t know who that affects at this point, but it usually didn’t affect me… however now that I live farther from family, and I’m not fresh off the move itself, it seems like summer is when everyone is expected to travel and meet up. Socializing and travel both take a big toll on me, so I usually need time to recover on top of the time spent away… so! For that reason, work might be a little slower through July and August and maybe even a little bit of September depending, but I suspect it will be about as slow as it was for June, where I still get stuff done! Just… less big batches of a ton of sketches. I think those will come back in time, though.
The other thing on my mind is that for a while now, I’ve been in a state where I’m almost afraid to let myself focus on things other than work, or at least art. I used to play a lot of video games, back when my work schedule was less organized! Or dabble in other art mediums even, with 3D modeling and even music making and playing with gamemaker. But for a long time now I haven’t been willing to let myself focus on stuff that isn’t my usual work medium because I’m afraid it’ll be difficult for me to focus back on work with my more strict schedule. I’m going… to try? Slowly, to see if I can introduce other mediums into my free time again. I really miss it, and I worry there’s burnout on the horizon if I don’t! I don’t know what exactly it will look like as I try to acclimate to actually doing things I want with my free time (instead of laying on the couch and waiting for free time to end to get back to work lol), but in case it’s a bumpy road of on and off posting, I guess this is a possible heads up. I’m also saying it to keep myself accountable so I actually TRY to play games and stuff 😆
Anyway, that’s about it! The June monthly illustration is almost complete, just putting the finishing touches on it :3 it should be here before rollover. Thanks for reading and have a good one!

My immediate “guilty pleasure” answer (because I can just go in there and deadbrain it) is RDR2/online. Never played the main story but I do love just endlessly hunting & selling for gold. Haven’t even gotten into the classes or whatever yet… but! I have so many things I want to play that I haven’t gotten the chance to even dip my toes in. Various indie games alongside things like elden ring and BG3 😫 I wish it didn’t feel so impossible to pick up a BIG rpg but I’d like to, someday…

2024-06-29 18:22:41 +0000 UTCwoo for trying to have fun doing different things!! I'm in a similar situation, altho reversed, where I can't quite get into the mindset for sculpting due to the big trip just ahead of us (and being engrossed in the elden ring expansion together with Wilson before we leave, which is fun!), and am trying not to feel bad for spending so much time doing non-creative things ^^' BUT its healthy to take a break, and def sound like you're overdue from getting out of the working artist mindset for a hot moment, so absolute best of luck in getting back to your hobbies 💜
