Ooh I didn't see you there! Stuffed Pintade (Guinea Fowl?) with mushrooms, baked apple + small soft steamed potatoes, chestnuts and figs. I didn't cook it myself needless to say, and my Mum's savage deglazing of the glass dish when juice had not built up caused it to shatter. Thankfully the sauce was separate and the Pintade was wrapped in protective fat and skin so we were able to save it, it was eventful but good in the end =>

Any cuisine planned for the holidays?

I do like a lot of other time periods, but I admit the hipster in me is drawn to less commonly explored environments that you barely see in media, it feels like I am more free in reinterpreting things without competing influences. Indeed I like ancient greece for example but it's easier to get my fill with so much out there. There's a lot I would experiment with (mostly XiXth century stuff) if I wasn't limited by my slowness, but don't we all!

Do you like other historical periods other than the great war? Like the 30 years war or ancient greece?

Francesco Carniel

Absolutely agreed that in terms of storytelling, it feels essentially hopeless. Like they set out to top 40k in terms of the grimdark aspect. 40k is vast enough that there is room for more (My favorite 40k story was a romantic comedy from the Dark Eldar perspective). It has fantastic art (The rulebook is free on their website which has some of their art in it, if you haven't downloaded it it), but I think a factor of its impact is because it is so far tipped to one or two themes with defined aesthetics.

Oooooh yes, the designs are phenomenal and I'd really like to get my hands on an artbook or the likes => it seems however that it's gonna be a bit difficult to tell stories within that setting, it's too desperately grim to the point where anyone living in that world would likely not be relatable for me, but as a vector for creating atmosphere I love it. It has the collateral effect of making me insecure about my approach to my own setting though, gonna need to work on that!

As an artist that clearly has a lot of interest in the Great War/WW1 setting, have you been looking at Trench Crusade with any interest? Either at the art or models?
