Hello lovely patrons, new and old!
We may have been in a place of precarious internet connection, but have no doubt - we made use of the peaceful step away from 'real' jobs to get to our real job.
- Episode 1 Update: We put into practice our method for turning Episode 1's storyboards into rough animation, and through this test figured out exactly how we want to do it for Episode 1. No more rough patches, no more plans - we have the technique down and are fired up to execute it. Obviously we couldn't take our new animation computer, Raph, to the wilderness with us, but we're ready to fire him up now that we're back.
- Episode 2 and 3: There are many things one can do during the seventeen hour drive from down South to the fine Northern states. We chose to storyboard episode 2 on the way up and episode 3 on the way down. That's right, we're now 33% through the series with storyboards, with a new and improved system to transfer them to rough animation.
- Future Plans: We hope to burn through the second half of rough audio cutting this coming week in order to get required retakes done before the month is out, and alongside that hope to get episode 1 roughed as quickly. Then we'll organize episode 1's backgrounds and get painting while rendering clean animation. After that grind, we'll have ourselves a pilot.
- Misc: No one asked, but we highly recommend any outdoor vacations include stargazing from a canoe. You also may have noticed our new banner art across our various platforms! Hopefully it will introduce new eyes to a better snapshot of the show's tone. Fingers crossed we'll have the video we wanted finished last weekend finished this weekend, and that looming project from last year we mentioned will be out of the way at the end of this month, as well. Brace yourselves; an update on the first book is coming!
And there you have our week. Stay safe, and send any questions, comments, or conversation on over to theWestPatch@gmail.com - we don't bite!
See you next time!
Steph
