Spoiler Drop & An Honest Update on the Wait!

Hey everyone,

I know you've all been asking where the next update is, and I want to thank you for your incredible patience. First things first, as promised, here are some spoiler images from the upcoming v0.4 to show you what I've been working on!

Now, for the honest part. I know this update is taking much longer than I originally planned. A major reason for this is that I had to do a ton of foundational work behind the scenes. The game has practically tripled in size. Before, we had a few characters mostly in their own fixed locations. Now, the world is much more alive. New characters won't just be waiting at home for you; you might bump into them all over the map, which required a complete rework of the game's core logic. The great news is that after this massive effort, future updates will be much, much easier and faster to develop.

I also want to be fair with you all: I got a bit swamped and tangled up with my personal day job for a while, which cost me some time. However, I want to be sincere and assure you that I am now 100% focused on the game and have been working on it every single day.

So, what does all this work actually mean for you? Well, the stuff in the images is just the tip of the iceberg. Here’s a taste of what's coming in v0.4:

To give you an idea of the scale of this update: the game has grown from 67 passages (in Twine) in v0.3 to 184 passages now. The custom JavaScript that powers everything has expanded by over 7,000 lines. I'm not going to give away any spoilers for the actual missions because I think discovering them for yourselves will be really fun.

So where are we at now? I'm deep in the process of connecting all these new systems and content together. There's still a good amount of work left to ensure everything runs smoothly, but the heaviest lifting is definitely behind us. I'm not going to promise a specific release date just yet, as unexpected bugs can always pop up. However, my personal goal and strong focus is to get this update into your hands before the end of this month.

As always, my plan is to release an early, work-in-progress version to you Patrons first so you can help me test it and hunt down any bugs I might have missed.

To be honest, I'm not 100% sure about a full, final release before the end of the month, as I still need to finalize the scenes for two of the new characters. However, I'm strongly considering releasing a v0.3.5 build for you all sometime next week, which would include all the content I have finished so far. And don't worry about quantity, haha; even with those final scenes missing, the game is already weighing in at around 2GB, and that's with me compressing a lot of the files
