then you should like jinx if you’re all for vengeance, the act that sparked all this was an act of vengeance for silco and all of zaun (bombing the council). so was rerouting the grey up to topside

her gun was malfunctioning, she was in an emotional state, and there was a child right next to jinx’s head. even if she didn’t miss, she would have killed jinx in front of a child who was very attached to her, further perpetuating the cycle of violence, something she actively was against last season

love your reactions! i also was on caitlyn’s side in her argument with vi at the end. don’t think she would’ve missed 🤷♀️, curious what you’ll think of caitlyn’s next arc

I feel so pained by hearing all of this Jinx hate. When all of the characters are incredibly grey. 🥲

also god caitlyn just really pisses me off this season, she is fully allowed to grieve and be devastated by the loss of her mom and hate jinx, but she then starts using her police power against the innocent civilians of zaun who can’t defend themselves from her and gassing the city with literal poison???? for revenge on a person who doesn’t even end up getting affected by the things she’s doing to innocents

it’s not stated directly but Jinx set this up to be her funeral. the drawings of their family together, her last final act against piltover being redirecting the gas to affect them instead of zaun. She fully intended for her sister to kill her and for that to be the end of it. That’s why she freaks out and says “no no that’s not how this was supposed to-” because she didn’t want to be saved

I love how this episode ends, that menacing look in Ambessa’s eyes. It’s rare that I find people with the same opinions as mine on jinx. Which is refreshing. I’m all for vengeance.

There is a translation of what the chant is from Riot on their main channel.
Shuriman chant translated from an old prayer to the goddess Jan’ahrem:
Beyond these walls, the storm's fury grows
Over land and sea, the storm's fury grows
But I have nothing to fear!
For the blue bird is with me

Yeah I could never really root for Cait either in this situation. Just in general I never really got attached to her character and this episode just made me dislike her a bit more (until certain events later). But I guess that also stems from really not liking Ambessa either 😂 Ambessa is a phenomenal character and written so well but man oh MAN does she make me upset.

The Shuriman child choir in the fight scene makes the Woodkid song so much more special.

The thing about this season is that there are no clear cut lines, all sides of the conflict have their gray areas, but the thing to know is there aren’t many true “good guys” in this show. Personally however, I never rooted for Caitlyn for a second. Don’t get me wrong, I too would go scorched earth if my family was taken from me, but I wouldn’t rapidly descend into authoritarianism like she did. Also just a note to pay attention to Caitlyn’s cape, the collar is reminiscent of Silco’s collar. She’s really not the good guy here. Just be patient and pay attention, everything will connect in the end.

Fun league trivia 🤓👆 In the game, Caitlyn has an ability that locks onto a target and she can’t miss. When she uses that skill, it's etiquette for a teammate with more HP to stand in front of Cait's target and take the bullet. The writers probably didn’t intend to reference that, but that scene always made me chuckle.
On a more serious note, I agree with the comment saying Vi wasn’t just trying to save Jinx's life- she didn’t want another Undercity kid to watch a guardian get killed, like she and Powder did. After all, when it comes down to it, Jinx’s madness is a product of Topside’s systemic oppression.
Cait experiences an ounce of grief that Undercity children go through and she's immediately calling them 'animals,' imagine the hatred the people in the Undercity have for Topsiders.
Also, If y'all are interested, there are a lot of mental health professionals that discuss Jinx's arc on Youtube. :D They're all super informative and really good, but this one is shorter and more concise:

You really have a very different view on the whole conflict than I do, which is interesting. Just a note, because I feel it informs a lot of your opinion: Jinx was NOT the one behind the attack on the memorial. That was the chem barons instigated by Medarda. Jinx only bombed the council, but had no hand in anything that followed. The terrorist attacks that we saw after that were all the chem barons, not Jinx.

Also to add, all their gear was malfunctioning. Cait is a great shot but now you add in a variable she has no control off. She definitely risked shooting Isha

I feel like Vi wasn’t just trying to stop Caitlyn from killing jinx, she was trying to stop her from killing someone the kid clearly adores right in front of them! She knew right there that if Caitlyn killed jinx, Isha (the kid) would grow up angry and alone in the undercity, and want vengeance of her own. And the cycle of violence would go on.. and on… and oooonnnn…
