I really like how the devil lady mentions, when involving Madeline in the deal, how she like symmetry. When she speaks to Roderick at the beginning of the episode, she talks about how the millions and ultimately uncountable number of people who have died and have become addicted because of him. When speaking to Lenore, she mentions the number of people whose lives will be saved because of her direct actions - millions and ultimately uncountable, because those who she will have helped, will help others. And then Juno creating rehab centers with all of Roderick’s money, to remove the addiction he put into the world. Symmetry.

2025-11-07 14:34:16 +0000 UTCI love the idea that Verna is a primordial entity more akin to Death than the devil, and that rather than making a deal with a ‘devil at the crossroads’, the Ushers as well as other powerful and influential people throughout history have instead made a deal with Death… It’s fascinating to think about the implications of that 👀 Another absolutely magnificent series that you would probably really appreciate and enjoy is ‘Penny Dreadful’; it’s 3 seasons of pure mastery, and the best homage I’ve ever seen to the original classic novels that sparked the horror genre, if that’s something you’d possibly be interested in reacting to xxx
