The Bent Neck Lady and Two Storms are my favorite episodes! Two Storms is a masterpiece, easily one of the greatest of all time🙌🏼❤️ The father is a better dad then what people give him credit for. He’s doing his best under impossible conditions ! It’s so easy to judge when you don’t know the whole situation 😛

I honestly cherish the Nell jumpscare - finally she managed to make them stop arguing and notice her for once!

2022-12-01 00:56:05 +0000 UTCSomething no one else has mentioned yet is that the jump scare in episode 8 scared the shit out of the actors, too. In the scene itself, Nell wasn't supposed to pop forward until later in the dialogue, but the director told her to jump in when she wanted, so the reactions from the actresses are genuine in that moment. You held it together so well, I'm so proud of you! I think it helps that it goes from this massive, heart attack inducing scare, and immediately goes into Theo's heartbreaking explanation.

2022-11-30 21:47:40 +0000 UTCThe falling of the chandelier was the first cut in episode 6. It was a crazy long one-shot. They even built the hill house set so it connected to the funeral home set just so the dad could walk directly from the funeral to hill house without breaking the single shot.

Only 5 cuts in the whole episode which is amazing especially when you think about that scene when the dad first got there and he saw them as kids and then when the camera got back on them they were adults again. The actors had to get set so quickly and quietly! Also the fact that they built the sets of the funeral home and Hill House connected specifically for this episode so that when the dad walks from the funeral home back to the past in the house they could do that in one shot too. Such incredible cinematography!!!!!!

Thank u for introducing me to this😭 also if you need another show rec to add to your list for patreon I highly recommend the new Wednesday show on Netflix, it’s 8 episodes and a super fun ride! Not sure if you’ve seen the original Addams Family films but it’s not necessary for the show. Also the main actress is definitely on the come-up in Hollywood, she’s a total scream queen!

It’s even better knowing that monologue was mostly if not entirely improvised by the actress herself. This show is just a well rounded show of great storytelling, characters, directing and acting.

I was banging and screaming and nobody would listen to me” hits so hard for me as someone with depression. And it hits even harder when you realize that was what was happthe entire episode, the buttons on her eyes, the casket falling, the lights going out. She was trying to do so much to get her family’s attention and stop their arguing and have them see her and it still didnt work and its just SO devastating and so important to me and i hold this show so close to my heart its insane. Anyways after baring my soul here i am now off to go watch Hobi perform at MAMA lmao

Like i’ve watched so many reactions to this show and so many people were just as scared as you and weren’t able to get through it to see the amazing story so HUGE props to you for that. And omg im not religious but the closer we got to the car jumpscare scene i swear i just started praying for you. I wasnt scared at all during this show but that one got me so badly the first time i watched it so i knew it would be absolute hell for you im so sorry. Anyways this is so long but i really just wanted to make it know that i appreciate you so much for the reactions to this show because its genuinely one of my all time favorite pieces of media and so close to my heart because of all the content it portrays and i appreciate you so much for braving through your fear and sticking it out and still having the mental strength to understand the story its telling. When I first watched, it was with a friend who made me watch through episode 5 in the middle of the night and decided to go to bed straight after--the worst lol! So glad that you're pushing through! Like you've mentioned along with other comments, Hill House as commentary on mental health and the concept of time and also living/life is amazing. But also it pulling in the supernatural elements to be a real factor partnering with the metaphor--it's unmatched, in my opinion! So glad to get your reaction and thoughts on it as always. Michael!
