2022-12-18 07:38:55 +0000 UTCThis last episode is definitely different from the rest of the show, but I still believe it's a perfect ending for the story they told. Every part, from Nell's monologue to the Dudley's, is so emotionally impactful and intimate. The show itself is about family more than anything, so It kinda make sense that the ending should focus on the family more than the ghosts and the house.

Nellie’s speech in episode 10 always makes me cry and like you said the writing in this show is just beautiful. Thank you so much for sticking with it bc this is one of my favorite shows ever I know it’s probably unlikely that you’ll do any more scary stuff any time soon, but I just wanted to mention there’s another show called ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’ and its written and directed by the same person, Mike Flanagan. A lot of people say it’s more of a gothic romance than horror which I agree with.. it’s definitely not as scary as HOHH in my opinion. It also features a lot of the same actors that were in HOHH such as the actors who played Nellie, Luke, Theo, and the dad. And it has beautiful writing, which is to be expected from Mike Flanagan. Again, I know you probably need a break from scary stuff, but just wanted to throw that out there 🤷♀️

Although it took me a few watches to realise what exactly happened with the dad. If you're still a bit confused, he basically pleads for Olivia to open the door to save the children but she still thinks killing them will wake them, so Hugh promises to finally stay with her at the house forever if she opens the door since Olivia can't bear to be in the house alone anymore. Therefore, Hugh sacrifices himself by overdosing on his heart medication to protect his children.

2022-12-17 04:30:55 +0000 UTCi love this show sm :( and the the haunting of bly manor too !! much more drama more than horror. also !! you should watch warrior nun, it’s an AMAZING 2 season show with a female led cast of diversity, sapphics, and it’s amazingly written and so full of love. it sadly just got cancelled but it’s creator is working very hard to see if maybe he can get it picked up somewhere else.

2022-12-17 04:22:00 +0000 UTCI could have never brought myself to rewatch this show by myself but through watching reactions like yours I've picked up an insane amount of details and connections I missed during the first watch so indeed this show is perfect for a rewatch for those reasons! You really get a completely new perspective watching the show with already knowing how everything adds up at the end and what happens
