I wasn’t sure if I was gonna watch this show or not, my brother definitely hyped it up so I probably would’ve eventually, but since you ended up reacting to it I also ended up watching it sooner than I would have .. I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite show ever but I still like it for what it is, Ellie is definitely my favorite character in this whole show tho!

Loved this episode, I cried, but what's new? haha It really makes you think about Joel's decision, and what would you have done? And also like you've said, what would happen next? Does she believe him? Would she find out? This was one of the best tv series I've ever seen, it better get a lot of awards next year! Love watching you react to this, thank u Michael! :)

2023-03-13 17:16:02 +0000 UTCThat cold open absolutely destroyed me. The most absolute ugly cry. The worst I’ve had this season for sure if not all time. I think it was just the fact that the mother was so calm and loving to her newborn (Ellie) even though she was already bit and her life was going to come to its eventual end. I think it’s the selflessness of it all to love someone so unconditionally that the fact that you have been bitten becomes the second priority and purely just living in the moment with your kid. Just absolutely beautiful and the epitome of unconditional love.

Some parts, here and in the previous episode, were a bit too violent / cruel for me. From the "good guys". Also because I liked the fireflies and some of the men from the priest in the previous episode. And so Ellie would have died from the surgery? That got me a bit confused.

It felt rushed and Joel's complete 180 change in personality felt disingenuous to his character, except the part where he murders everyone because that was the most Joel thing Joel did this episode. I absolutely LOVED this series and it is in my top list of favorite shows of all time as well, but something just felt off about this episode. I was left wanting for more, not in a good cliffhanger way. I felt like it was missing something. Thank you SO MUCH for reacting to this series - you were the reason I became absolutely hooked!!!
