The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers
Added 2023-07-15 01:14:51 +0000 UTCThe mix for this movie has the dialogue volume low compared to the music/sound effects, sorry if thats a little bit of an issue!

2023-07-18 14:06:21 +0000 UTCwait wait I had to pause at Smeagol's preference for fish and your face because the last time I watched this movie my mind was nowhere near the gutter but I can't stop laughing now. XD (minute 1:43:12)

2023-07-18 00:06:45 +0000 UTCSO glad you’re doing the extended versions! Hope you get a chance to do the Hobbits someday. I know they’re not as well received as the original trilogy but I still love them and think they’re a ton of fun.

2023-07-17 03:21:23 +0000 UTCI wanted to second the person who said to keep Return of the King rolling into the credits for the song by Annie Lennox. It never fails to stomp on my heart (in the best possible way). Also, whether you watch it for a video or just on your own time, I highly recommend going back and watching The Fellowship of the Ring extended edition. There are so many wonderful scenes that build out the world and develop the characters and their relationships to each other.

2023-07-16 14:40:59 +0000 UTCThe battle at helms deep was like the battle in GoT except you could actually see what’s going on 😂. So embarrassing that they got it right in a movie that came out in the early 2000s, but ultraHD GoT couldn’t manage it. You’ll notice that there’s actually a ton of light in that battle, but it’s very blue light to mimic moonlight. But it’s incredibly well done. Even in the rain you can see everything that happens down to the expressions on each actor’s face.

2023-07-16 04:44:03 +0000 UTCI’m so glad you watched the extended cut because otherwise you would have missed out on all of the Boromir flashbacks. I can’t wait until you see the next one. I will say this though in the next film I highly suggest listening to the full song that happens during the end credits called into the west. I believe that the song will answer some questions you have relating to Valinor/the undying lands. Also I don’t want to spoil anything but I think it might be possible that you will have questions at the end of the next movie that it will help answer. Plus you also love music so I know you will enjoy the song. It is sung by Annie Lenox who has a beautiful voice. Looking forwards to the next movie.

2023-07-16 04:02:03 +0000 UTCThanks for watching the extended edition! I would recommend watching the extended version of Return of the King as well. Yes, it is long, but there are a few things you won't want to miss. One thing cut from the first film were the gifts Galadriel gave the members of the Fellowship. That's why they all have Leaves of Lorien pins on their cloaks. I think Two Towers is my favorite. I love the additional characters and the actors who play them: Andy Serkis as Gollum, Miranda Otto as Eowyn, Karl Urban as Eomer, Bernard Hill as King Theoden. John Noble as Denethor, and David Wenham (who really looks like he could be related to Sean Bean) as Faramir. I also love the Battle of Helms Deep. I want to shout out Christopher Lee, who played Saruman. He was in his late 70s when he made these movies. You might remember him as Count Dooku from Episodes I-III of Star Wars. Remember when Aragorn kicked a helmet when he thought Merry and Pippin had been burned to death? Viggo Mortensen gives such an impassioned performance here because he broke two toes kicking the helmet. You asked why Eowyn was staring at Arwyn's necklace. The necklace is a reminder that Aragorn really isn't available. His heart belongs to someone else. I think it's fair to say that Eowyn has it pretty bad for Aragorn. I was lucky enough to watch all three movies, the first two extended cuts, on the day Return of the King was released. Many people came dressed as elves, ents, or other characters. Someone brought a horn of Gondor and blew it at the beginning of each movie. The only bummer was having to wait until midnight to watch Return of the King.

2023-07-15 23:05:42 +0000 UTCGoing to put a bit (a lot)of a lore dump. Feel free to read as much or little as you like. I don't think anything here is a spoiler but if anyone disagrees let me know and I'll remove it. Also while I've read the books probably 10 times, its been maybe a decade so things might be fuzzy or I might get something confused with movie specific lore. I tried to not go too deep and just include what might be helpful. Aragorns lineage: Aragorn is from a race of enhanced humans called the Numenoreans. They have a significantly increased lifespace, which is why Aragorn looks amazing at 87. The have some other enhancements as well. The Numenoreans were kings of a lot of the realms of men, including Gondor. The king we saw at the beginning of the first movie, who cut the ring off Sauron with his late father's broken sword, was Isildur. His father had been King of Gondor. Aragorn is their great, great, great, etc grandson so he is the heir of the throne of Gondor. Boromir's father, Denethor, is the stewart of Gondor. In the time when there was a king they were advisors and aides to throne. Now when there's no king they run things. This is why Boromir was salty about Aragorn when they first met. If Aragorn returns, it basically takes away Boromir's family's ability to run Gondor. Aragorn's ring that they mention is an heirloom of this royal family, not one of the ones Sauron made. Ringwraiths: these are the guys that got the 9 rings for men from Sauron. It turned them into these shades that aren't alive or dead, which is what makes them so powerful. Also something that's a super minor spoiler but always confuses people when they watch for the first time, if you come in physical contact with a Ringwraith it gives you an affliction called Black Breath that can cause unconciousness and other symptoms. As of the time of this story, the 3 elf rings are with Elrond, Galadriel, and Gandalf. They were all strong enough to resist corruption. I'm not actually sure who has the dwarf ones. Elves: Eleves do not age/die of age anywhere regardless of where they live. They do not need to go to the undying lands to be immortal. The elves have given up on Middle Earth and are going to a sort of eternal paradise (Valinor) where they don't need to worry about the issues going on in the mortal world. Elves can still die from physical wounds like we saw here or from grief or when they are severely tortured or r-worded they turn to orcs. The Two Towers: You did definitely miss this one as they did outright say it lol. They were Saruman's tower of Isenguard and Sauron's tower of Barad-hur (which is what his eye is sitting on). Sauron does not have to rebuild his armies in the next one. All the orcs seen in this movie were made by Saruman, Sauron's army is (mostly) untouched. That's all I remember wanting to clear up as I watched but if I missed anything let me know and I can tell you if its spoiler free (and I know the answer lol). I'm quite the fan if you couldn't tell

2023-07-15 09:49:08 +0000 UTCAhhh. The Ents and Faramir, my heart. I didn't notice any issues with the sound personally, everything sounded great to me. I did notice, and will now never unsee it, that Jung Kook currently has Frodo Baggins's hairstyle. I've heard and read that Tolkien's experiences in World War I really show up throughout his novels. The conflict between man and nature here, and between peaceful people and warmongers is just so fascinating to me. Plus the commentary on industrialization and militarization. I think this is a series that people reread, rewatch, and revisit multiple times, because there's so much to reflect on and think about.

2023-07-15 07:20:22 +0000 UTCThe Two Towers refers to Isengard and the Dark Tower in Mordor with the all seeing eye.

2023-07-15 06:02:33 +0000 UTCI've been living in New Zealand for about six months (studying at uni) and it's been too long since I've seen these movies- so proud they're all filmed here! And it's so cool watching knowing that I've been to pretty much all of these places while hiking!! Can't wait to see your reaction to the final movie! :)

2023-07-15 05:17:10 +0000 UTCYep, they came out back to back to back as all 3 films were filmed together between Oct 1999 and Dec 2000, with periodic pick ups between the movie releases from 2001 to 2003.
