This video blew my mind when I first saw it. It’s incredible.

Matthew Shields

This was my favorite album freshman year of HS! Such a beautiful record. Always made me want to go sit at the beach and watch the waves on a drizzling day. A Rush of Blood To The Head is also an incredible record (and title track) 💜

LanaJulie33

PS!!!!!! if you ever do A Rush of Blood to the Head, ITS MANDATORY watching the music video for The Scientist! Without a doubt the most ingenious, conceptual and well-thought-out clip made in the last few decades

Sarah

aaaaaaaa so happy for you reacting to their debut album!!! Huge fan of Coldplay since 2010, they're kinda my real introduction to music and I've been appreciating them since them. I highly recommend you reacting to their sophomore album called A Rush of Blood to the Head!! My favorite ones from Parachutes are: yellow, trouble and don't panic 💛 I could never agree more when you appreciate their musicality, because that's something that they AAAALWAYS put some effort on, on creating this atmosphere of sound where you could easily lose yourself in the song and the feelings it brings! Hopefully we'll see another album reaction from them!

Sarah

Kinda surprised this is their most popular album, I always thought it was X&Y. Coldplay will always be special to me, my dad loves them and they were the soundtrack for my whole life growing up. I'd love to watch you go through their discography :)

Aninha Silva

I also loved the fray. Solidarity. All the bands of that time were great and they don’t make music like that anymore!

ipsssen

I get you and I agree that this album would make an amazing background music. They all sound so warm and comforting. They make me think of being wrapped in a burrito blanket with a cup of hot choco on a cold (stormy) night. I’ve heard most of their music especially since my parents love them, but I’ve never really listened listened. But now I will. love this!!!

Xene

huge fan of coldplay so i loved this! to this day they're one of my favorite bands. hope you check out all of their albums because they're amazing!

Amber

ty heather, the songs are good but i got 1/3 through a relisten and gave up on the low mood haha. one republic is def a time portal i havent heard from them in years

Vanessa

I think I’ve mentioned this album before, but based on your reaction to this has reminded me how much I’d love for you to listen to Gregory Alan Isakov with the Colorado Symphony. I have listened to it a million times and can sing along, but have never processed the lyrics … It could be saying something amazing or trash, I really couldn’t tell you, but it gives an amazing atmosphere. For once I don’t want a reaction 🤣 but next time you have a long solo drive, especially at dawn or dusk time (on the darker side), give it a try. https://open.spotify.com/album/6fXCZozPfQBH8nrpZjaY6W?si=fT0f2ydBSSi6f-lm-LGnQg

Chris has said this about yellow in the past: Lead singer Chris Martin said that the lyrics are about being devoted to someone, wanting to do anything for them: writing a song for them, swimming across the sea for them and so on. It's not necessarily a romantic devotion, but could be about someone that you look up to and would do anything for, a brotherly love. He claims to have had no specific person in mind when he wrote it. Interesting that yellow was my introduction into Coldplay and recently during a concert Chris said that the song was written for bts though they weren’t bts when he wrote it. Guess he has figured out who it was for even though he didn’t know at the time of writing it.

First time hearing the whole album and it was a very pleasant experience. I started Coldplay with A Rush of Blood to the Head which I love. I hope you can do that album in the future.

This album is so nostalgic to me. My brother and sister-in-law got married the year it came out and made yellow their wedding song and my little 9 year old heart thought it was the epitome of love and became obsessed with the album. 🤣 I haven’t completely kept up with Coldplay since but knew the songs that played on the radio. I feel like bts collabing with them has made a bit of a resurgence for me. I’d love to go to a show someday.

What a nice surprise! I love Coldplay, specially their early albums. I hope you would like to continue listening to them! Specially "A rush of blood to the head" and "Viva la vida" They have incredible songs that for me, are timeless..! Chris voice is something else <3 My favorites from this album are Sparks, Trouble and Yellow. Yellow is one of my all time favorite songs from them, also loveee Fix you, The scientist, Clocks and Viva la vida. <3 Thanks for your always honest awesome reaction :)

Talía Caraveo

Hugs, friend. That’s how I feel with OneRepublic, specifically their Dreaming Out Loud album.

Heather

So happy to see you doing this album. It's not my favorite of theirs but all the same I think it's a good one to start with. As you move further into their albums, you'll start to really see them become a band with music made to fill a stadium. I'm 36 so for me this was my era of music. Rock music of 90s-mid 2000s had heavy focus on lyricism and often tackled difficult subjects. One of my fav Bright Eyes lyrics sums up the tone of lyricism of that era well: "I sing and sing of awful things / The pleasure that my sadness brings / As my fingers press against the strings / in yet another clumsy chord." In regards to The Fray; they were very much inspired by Coldplay so you were very on point with that observation! I don't know how well you know them, but I'd love to see you do a deep dive into Radiohead someday. Their music journey is unlike anyone else's IMO. Coldplay was very inspired by them, especially how Chris uses his vocals on this album is straight from the Thom Yorke playbook haha. Radiohead's first album is known as their weakest (which I agree with) but their second album The Bends is one of my favorites of theirs. The one they are most known for is their third album OK Computer. It was a gamechanger in rock music at the time.

Gonna jump in and say yaaas to Travis too. They were such a huge band for me in the early 2000s. It's hard to imagine anyone listening to their songs and not feeling something.

Lisa

Oooh I'm just as shocked as you about this being their first album! I really enjoyed this listen through, I think there were like 3 songs I hadn't listen to before but I had never listened to this album in order and it had a really nice pace. I'm curious, did you leave wanting to check out more of their projects?

Mariana

i feel like i cant listen to this album without a wave of depression washing over me. like lyrically but also it's so hard to revisit older music theres too much past associated with it

Vanessa

Another vote for Travis. I loved their early albums. Good Feeling and The Man Who are brilliant, tied to the 90s and happy are great. The hidden track on TMW is hard hitting but so good.

SeaLights

This was a fantastic surprise today! Parachutes was my first ever Coldplay CD and remains one of my favourites (tied with Rush of Blood). They DID have a small EP before Parachutes (called Blue Room) that you can't get anymore, but there's a song on there called "See You Soon" that's one of my absolute favourite songs by them. The last song having the little extra song at the end was a style on CDs at the time to have a "hidden track" without increasing the track count when you stuck your CD in a player (those "media dependent" details get lost when things are uploaded for streaming).

Yea! I'm not alone! ❤️

I have probably screamed about this before with you, but I love Travis! I saw them live a few times in Texas and they were so good and so much fun every time!

jennptx

You don’t know how much I needed this today! I’m usually a glass-half-full kinda person but I’m feeling the ugliness of the world/people today. Yellow has been my go to song when I felt discouraged. Even before BTS, I loved Coldplay. I only discovered them when Viva la Vida was featured on iTunes commercial. Their songs are hopeful and healing and the fact that they support our boys is just icing on the cake. I hope you’ll react to other albums, as I love The Scientist and of course Fix You. Thank you, Michael!

Yukari

Speaking of sad music, it might be time for you to get into 90's music. Everything was amazing, but the music was so sad. This reminds me a lot of Travis's second album, The Man Who. It came out just a year before Parachutes in 1999 and they are also British. The sonics are so similar!

Julie B

I love this album. I definitely feel like their music has changed over the years but I've enjoyed most of it.

Marcela

One of my favorite bands in the intire universe being listened to by one of my favortie people in the whole universe.... yes please

Portia Crain

NO WAYYYYY!!! I love this album!

Adam Geiser
