I've had a couple messages telling me to skip episode 8, is this the consensus?

2024-02-16 17:50:47 +0000 UTCDon't skip episode 8. It's a clip show episode, but the showrunners really tried to make it work, it's all narrative stuff (dialogue over flashbacks, etc.). I haven't watched it in years so I don't remember exactly what happens, but I remember you get some insight into character motivations. It's not like The Great Divide in A:TLA which was actual pure filler.

It's "cheaply made" so-to-speak (it's a clip show i.e. rehashing old footage while the characters narrate about it, low budget anime does it sometimes to fill deadlines) but LoK does it in a way that provides a lot of insight into character motivations, and it has dialogue scenes. I wouldn't skip it, it's not like LoK episodes are very long in the first place.

2023-09-08 04:47:42 +0000 UTCPersonally I usually skip episode 8 when I'm rewatching, but maybe that's because I've just seen this show multiple times already lol. Maybe be good to at least see it for your first watch, even on your own time. As far as Sokka goes, they did show him in some flashback in Season one (the courtroom bloodbending stuff). But they did confirm that he has passed by now. I believe Katara said in episode one, talking to Korra, "my brother and many of my friends have passed. It's now time for you to have your own journey." Or something like that.

2023-09-07 23:01:36 +0000 UTCidk if id say to skip it, because there are good moments. the whole situation is just more of the thing about nick screwing them over, so id just keep that in mind when you watch it. also korras development in this season means so much to me personally as someone with PTSD and depression, it’s just so well written.
