So many people aren't giving it the credit they deserve - I do understand being surprised and even disappointed by the chill/slow tune when the exclamation point made it seem like it would be high energy, but it's such a good song regardless and it's been bugging me so badly how many people are unable to look past their expectations and give it the praise it deserves! Thanks for always appreciating Taylor and her music as much as we do :)

2023-10-29 16:38:09 +0000 UTCApart from the knife reference in Bad Blood that have already been mentioned, Taylor says "my twisted knife, my winless fight" in hoax! This vault is absolutely spectacular and might be my favorite she's given us so far. It's so interesting how the original 1989 tracks reflect a Taylor that's much more removed from the relationship and the heartbreak, whereas the vault feels very raw and personal and in-the-moment. I think I understand why these songs didn't get released back in 2014, because I think she was trying to keep the focus on her music vs her dating life, but I'm so happy that she's given them to us now!!

In "Cornelia Street," Taylor sings "back when we were card sharks playing games; I thought you were leading me on; but then you called; showed your hand." In "New Romantics," she sings "it's poker; he can't see it in my face, but I'm about to play my ace." I think there are other knife and card references in her songs; this is just what's on my mind. I'm in love with these vault tracks. "Is It Over Now?" reminds me a bit of "Labyrinth" and "Say Don't Go" reminds me of "Clean." I can't believe how amazing "Slut!" is. I feel a bit about these tracks the way I did about the Red tracks; we are getting a lot more context to the whole story. We are seeing the story points in the songs touch each other. It's a big day in Swiftieland. I'm in heaven.
