Beyoncé - Cowboy Carter | Full Album Reaction

Comments

Beyonce is apart of a Yoruba religion which is older than Christianity with multiple deities and in lemonade beyonce wears yellow to symbolise Oshun so that’s who she’s talking about when she says “I pray to her”

deya R19

Justice for II Most Wanted and Levii’s Jeans! Those are my 2 favorite songs on the album!!

Ashley Kinney

With Daughter coming after Jolene and her saying "help me lord from these fantasies in my head, they aint never been safe ones", I think Daughter is Beyonce fantasizing about revenge on Becky and Hov!!!!

Tanner Carter

Also I did NOT know you had a podcast and I’m so excited!!! Immediately subscribed.

Paige

Olivia Rodrigo content please ♥️

Loved going through this with you! What a special album. The title spaghettii was confusing me so much. I had never heard spaghetti being tied with westerns before and my father has watched westerns nearly every weekend of my life. Haha maybe baked beans, but not spaghetti, so I had to look it up. For those that didn't know, like me, it is a subgenre of westerns that were made in Italy by Italian filmmakers, but typically with American movie stars. Apparently a lot of Clint Eastwood westerns are part of this genre. I think it is so interesting and so smart that Beyonce used this name for a song that is talking about black experiences in country music with a title that points out films that were regarded as being the epitome of 'America' when in fact it was made and filmed in Italy by Italians. I feel like it really displays the inconsistencies in acceptance and displays the racism. Miley's roots are in country with her dad being Billy Ray Cyrus (though I wouldn't say he was huge huge in country, I think some would say he is more of a one hit wonder with his song Achy Breaky Heart) and Dolly Parton is her Godmother. None of her albums have been country focused though. I wonder if they were kind of picked because they all have some roots in country but have never done a 'country album' though Miley and Post would be more accepted into country though there is no reason they should be over Beyonce ... kind of like a trap for the racists? Idk just a thought. I thought the misspellings with two i's was just to be the roman numeral II for act 2, but the misspellings on birth certificates adds so much depth. So is so wonderful at adding so much detail if you want to take the time to look for it. I had so many thoughts while watching this but I can't remember the rest, anyways what a special album and thanks for going through it with us!

Absolutely to a Dolly reaction! Gosh, I just love her so much. Her music is wonderful of course but she’s just such a fantastic humanbeing too. And if I may add, a Beatles reaction too! They both live up to their hype in my opinion. Dolly has a cover of a song called Rocky Top (not on an album) that I always play while driving through the mountains of Tennessee. If you ever find yourself driving around that area you should definitely give it a listen. lol

chimelle6

It’s insane that beyonce has the most Grammys ever. Yet still haven’t won aoty 😐

Maya

I love how in depth your reactions are. You actually listen and don’t just give your opinion of the song surface level. A lot of other reactors I’ve seen react to this album didn’t understand the history at all. I think you for that. And I can’t wait for beyonce (self titled album) reaction 😁

Maya

You officially have the best reaction I have seen for this album Michael thank you for the time and hard work you put into this and letting us enjoy this album experience with you 😊

Orangeskies

Loved your reaction, as always. One thing I would point out is that not every song is autobiographical. For example, you seemed to be trying to find the real-life narrative behind Daughter, but the song is really just a damn good murder ballad, which is something you find often in the Country genre.

Rigo

This album is insane, I don't understand how Beyonce consistently improves when her work has always been top tier. I genuinely cannot wait for your reaction to self titled, that album changed my life when I was 13 (also please check out all of the visuals for that album, whether on camera or off, it was a visual album and they just complete the experience lol)

Jade Hunter

also... DID I JUST HEAR THAT WE'RE GETTING A DREAMGIRLS REACTION!? OMGGGG YES!!!!

mary-anne

this album is a MASTERPIECE! there's no other way for me to describe it. first of all, i love literally every song on this album! i seriously don't think there's a single skip which is crazy! as much as LOVE and have grown to adore renaissance, i can't say i share the same sentiment about that album. second of all, i know music is subjective but there's no way someone can listen to this and not appreciate at least the depth and level of artistry displayed in this album! i mean, the harmonies, the vocal acrobatics, the lyricism, the seemless blending of genres... this is real ART! Beyonce is an incredible storyteller and with renaissance and cowboy carter especially, she is opening our eyes and challenging us to explore the true history behind some of our favorite music. there is so much meaning and intention behind her art and it puts her at a whole other level. she's honestly one of the most important and legendary artists to ever exist.

mary-anne

I'd love to see a Dolly album reaction! And a Kacey Musgraves Golden Hour one 😁

Orangeskies

All I can think about is this album since I listened to it 😩 absolute perfection, each listen makes me appreciate it a little more. You’re so eloquent with how you dive into each song and as a fellow music lover, I appreciate you!! This reaction is why I love watching your videos.

Jaime

if you were thinking about doing another beyoncé project any time soon I would LOVE for you to dive into “black is king”. I can’t tell you how important this project was at the time and still is. the visuals are stunning too.. maybe the best she has had so far imo

Yeontan™️

Super interested to hear how you feel about 2 MOST WANTED and LEVII’S JEANS after a few more listens. Especially LEVII’S JEANS. That one went from one I liked to a top fave over the past few days. The whole album is spectacular, but I think my top 5 include YA YA, LEVII’S JEANS, TYRANT, BODYGUARD, and DAUGHTER. But special shout out to the Patsy Cline sample in SWEET HONEY BUCKIN. It had me gagged!

Kelsie Brake

Omg yes give us some Dolly reaction she's iconic

ariel

OMG I would DIE for a Dolly Reaction. I was just thinking as soon as there’s availability in the request level I’m making you listen to SO MUCH Dolly 😂

Paige

You mentioned the visuals, so I'll let you know the rumor that circulating. This isn't coming from her, but people who worked with her said she wants us to just feel and sit with all of the music from each of these acts first, and she'll have visuals at the end of the entire project. But that's not been confirmed by her yet.

Matt Jones

I thought Miley sounded amazing and Post sounded good too but I agree the two big pop star didn’t hit me as hard as the rest of the album did. I don’t really care for Levi jeans even tho most people seem to love it. II most wanted is the better collab of the two in my opinion but I feel like I need to be in the mood for it

princesspebble

I CANNOT WAIT to get home and click play 😭 watched at least 10 reactions atp but I‘m truly the most excited to hear what you have to say!!! (other than maya of course😂🩷)

Yeontan™️

Ahhh best thing to wake up to!!! I’m so excited!!!

Paige

I continue to be perplexed by the reactions of *some* people to this album. I made the mistake of reading comments on Facebook. 😬 The performance of "Daddy Lessons" by Beyonce with the Chicks remains one of the greatest things I've ever seen in my life. Lots of people were praising Alan Jackson for leaving the performance and telling the CMAs to "keep it country." Part of me feels sorry for these people that they are so stupid, and then I remind myself to save my sympathy for people who actually need it.

Julie B

If you want an album to listen to, I would start with "Meet the Beatles" or "Hard Day's Night," which is also a film staring the Beatles as fictionalized versions of themselves. I love the "Get Back" documentary on Disney+, but I don't think it's the best place to start since it's just before the band broke up.

Julie B

Michael saying Beyoncé made him want to “bounce on that shit with no hands” has made my year. Me too, Michael. Me too. 😂 I believe “hangman” in TYRANT is what she’s calling the woman who’s stolen her man, since she also refers to her as a “tyrant”. The track titles having two i’s is a reference to it being act II. Btw, there has been speculation that she’s singing JOLENE from the perspective of her mother. It makes sense to me, given that her mother is from Louisiana and went through a similar experience.

Dennis Roberts

2 most wanted will grow on you! at first i was sooo confused, but now i cry whenever i hear it! Also Blackbird(Black woman) was written by Paul M. during the blackwomen movement, that were fighting to be heard and taking seriously by society. Beyonce also invited all the co-singers on that song to come together, because all those beautiful women are black country singers, trying to make their way in the country music! i hope that helped:)

Anna Kozachuk

Please have a listen to "These Boots are Made for Walking" by Nancy Sinatra and "Good Vibrations" by the Beach Boys. They are the samples you heard in "Ya Ya."

Julie B

Okay that might have been a bit judgmental, but i am a hardcore Beatles fan lol. So it kind of blows my mind anytime someone doesnt really know their music, especially because they are one of the most influential bands of all time. They were musically revolutionary! Highly recommend taking a dive into some of their albums

Maryn Levi

I know!! I've always gone back and watched both of those auditions alot!! I was like wait. what!? When I saw his name and immediately double checked!! So proud!!!

Jana Fuller

*hides in corner*😶‍🌫️😖

Michael Beveraggi

Thanks for the info Jaleah! Love love love that they’re all country artists

Michael Beveraggi

OMG WAIT. THANK YOU FOR TELLING ME THIS JANA. I remember watching a lot of the auditions from that year back when they came out & him & Carly Rose’ have always been iconic to me I cannot believe that’s the same person!!!

Michael Beveraggi

I'm so glad you listened to the original version of Jolene first it wouldn't have been the same without you knowing the original lyrics! Alot of people are upset about the change I like it and it obviously had Dolly's stamp of approval. I'm from the south grew up on country music alot of my family called it disrespectful! I thought it was amazing! I'm glad you really appreciated it!!

Jana Fuller

I am 15 minutes in and i had to stop… HOW DO YOU ONLY KNOW 2 BEATLES SONGS?!?! I feel like thats criminal….

Maryn Levi

Seeing Willie Jones on the album made me feel like a proud mama 🤣 I remember him auditioning for x factor coming out looking like the fresh prince singing your man and you think my tractor's sexy and shocking everyone lol 🤣 I love him so much!!!

Jana Fuller

Blackbird is about Black women in the 60s during the civil rights movement (there’s a video of Paul McCartney talking about the meaning of the song) and the other artists featured on the song are Black women who are country artists !

Jaleah Green

Wow. The choice to listen to the original versions of the covers first. Chefs kiss. I’m in here for the ride with u

Yubbu

Been checking everyday for this!!!

Courtney Barton

I can’t wait to watch this!!!

chimelle6
