One Tree Hill - 5x5, 5x6

Weirdest thing about these episodes is seeing my old college professors and peers show up for cameos.

Mean while I am over here on my fifth self edit, 2nd professional edit... and just begging for an ounce of the confidence that lucas has lol I guess it's all about balance

I love adult brook, wasn't a huge fan of her teen years but adult brook is my favorite character!!!

I would say the fandom as a whole definitely loves Brooke. There are obviously those who don't, but largely she is a fan favorite. As I've probably said many times, she is my favorite character on the show, and one of my favorite tv characters ever. And that scene of her and Victoria at the end where the first time you see her dream and all she wants is for her mom to love her and be proud of her breaks my heart, especially when you watch the "real" version of it go down and Victoria doesn't even care. And it's even more sad when you go back to the scene where they had lunch and Victoria tells Brooke she's far too talented to be a model. Brooke has this look like she's trying to hide how happy that little compliment made her. Sophia can make you feel so much with just a small expression. And Lucas. Poor stupid Lucas. He has this really bad habit of getting rejected and then immediately jumping to the next available girl. He did it at the beginning of season 1, the first time he and Peyton kissed when he told her they could finally have it all and she said that's not what she wants, so shortly after that he moves on to Brooke. After the cheating thing and him and Brooke broke up, he tried to be with Peyton, and she said she didn't feel right about it, so he hooked up with Nikki. Now Peyton says no again and he kisses Brooke. And we also saw in a previous flashback the night of his book signing when he thought Peyton didn't show up, he asked Lindsay out on their first date. I think it makes a lot of sense because the man clearly has abandonment issues thanks to Dan. But even though I understand it and it's realistic, it's one of the things that annoys me the most about him. I just want to shake him and say go to therapy.

Yes to everything you said about Lucas and publishing. I don't think I was as annoyed with it back when I first watched it, but now that I'm a self-published/indie author ... Oh my goodness, I wanted to shake and slap Lucas so badly. Even as a self-published author—it takes two to three self-edits (depending on the author) and two edits with an editor. Can our books come out faster than traditional authors? Yes. But we still need that editor and no book is ever perfect the first draft or even the second draft or even the final draft. Like Lucas, be real here. 😂

Did I need to watch this at 1 in the morning? No. Did I watch it at 1 in the morning? Yes. Was it worth being tired for the rest of the day? ABSOLUTELY!!!!!! Ahh, so many good things happened in these two episodes. Well, not good things per se when it comes to showing Leyton's breakup (AKA Lucas being Lucas), Nanny Carrie (dude, your realization of her being up to no good was priceless), Mouth and his boss (blah), Victoria being well her (yep, Dan 2.0), and other things. BUT your reaction to these episodes was TOP TIER. I can't wait to see you continue this crazy season. Always look forward to when I get that notification for new OTH episodes. Keep them coming.

I know, I love their scenes together and their friendship now but I always have that in the back of my mind like wondering if it was awkward for them. They are both known to be very professional though and not let it affect the art ❤️

Yes yes yes! I love Leyton but Lucas is a baby

I wanted to comment on the conversation Lucas had with Lindsey about editing his book. I don't pretend to know everything about publishing, but I do know a little. First, it can take several months or even years from the time the initial manuscript is completed and when it actually hits bookshelves. Even the most prolific authors go through multiple rounds of edits -- developmental editing, line editing, copy editing, and proofreading being the main ones, but also things like beta/sensitivity readers depending on the content -- and that's ESTABLISHED AUTHORS. Lucas was literally a kid in high school when he wrote his book. I hate how precious he is about the fact that someone with experience in the industry thought it wasn't utter perfection after the first draft. What in the hell did he think the job of the editor was? I know it's not important in the long run, and with a show like this you have to suspend disbelief, but it was nagging at me. The realization that Nanny Carrie is bad news was *chef's kiss*. I'm not going to blame Haley for hiring Nanny Carrie, but I feel like both she and Nathan sort of let the boundaries become muddled. Yes, she asked her to not wear a bikini in the swimming pool, but then later in the episode she invites her to have dinner with them and Lucas/Lindsey? That's a little strange. Also, even though I've seen this show multiple times, I'm still confused as to why she was still there swimming in the pool while they were all going to bed. I don't think she's live-in, unless I missed something. Nathan definitely should have put her in her place during the conversation where she helped him dress, especially when she told him that Haley specifically asked her not to wear a bikini in the pool, because that was a pretty clear indication that this woman was making his wife uncomfortable. He immediately should've taken her side and told Carrie that his wife was correct and she needed to be more professional, IMO.

Justice for Peyton because what the hell was he thinking lmao. Just showing up in her life and judging her job and the way she lives and then leaving so this out saying anything….he can’t handle rejection from Peyton and punishes her and every other women he tries to replace her with because of it

When I watched this when I was younger, I never fully grasped how crazy it was that at 19 years old when Peyton was finally just starting her life, Lucas proposed to her and left her after she said not right now. I understand that they grew up in a small town, where it is more common to get married to your high School sweetheart and get married young, I understand Naley. But the main characters of tree hill all had such big aspirations, they all were meant for big things. Lucas included, it always just struck me as so weird that he was pushing a proposal when they were both so young and figuring things out. Also how Lucas kept mentioning Peyton's success in tree hill and was putting down her job in LA. Yes, it wasn't up to Peyton's capabilities but a lot of people who want to achieve the things Peyton wanted have to start off in these mailrooms and make connections and grow towards the job. He was minimizing the work she was putting in to learn and grow and achieve, she is lucky to have a Brooke in her corner ready to payroll her dreams, but it could have been completely different and in another scenario this may have been her only way of getting to the top of that mountain. I love Lucas, but it is always so frustrating to see how he treats the women he is in relationships with. As for Nanny Carrie and Nathan, I love Nathan he is one if not my most favourite character, but this is just horrible, he is horrible for not saying anything and for letting this even get this far. Victoria is a monster, I want to hug Brooke. All of mouths storylines are always boring and annoying to me.

Dani May

Even after their divorce, Chad and Sophia still have the most chemistry.

Christina Johnson

Well, I guess I'm not sleeping tonight. 😂 This makes up for the Soto news.
