to answer the question you had about the 12 hour time limit, what lu guang was saying is that his ability of seeing into a picture is limited to 12 hours. he doesn't know what would happen if someone using cheng xiaoshi's power stayed longer than 12 hours because he can't see that far into a photo. cheng xiaoshi would just leave the photo at the 12 hour mark because he would no longer be able to be guided by lu guang and without guidance he has no way of knowing what he is supposed to do to make sure the past isnt altered. another thing about this season as a whole, it doesn't actually take place where season two leaves off. at the end of season 2, lu guang apologizes for always telling cheng xiaoshi not to change the past because he has already broken that rule, as in the lu guang in those two seasons is already a lu guang from a different future trying to change the past. this season is a prequel to the events in the other two seasons.
