Iver Johnson Safety Hammerless Revolver - Old West Defense for the Working Class

The Iver Johnson Safety Hammerless Revolver was introduced in 1894 as an affordable "every man's gun", but it wasn't junk. This revolver was innovative with multiple new safety features, but also reliable and effective, but at a price almost anyone could afford. From 1894 through the 1940's, almost one million were produced.

Hey Karl: I know you said the smokeless load was snappier than the BP, but I'm curious if you've ever chrono'ed the two for the velocity/power difference? I'm aware that the velocity of those old BP rounds almost didn't matter, since in the days before antibiotics those old loads that would be considered "mouse guns" today were more about brandishing because nobody wanted to get gut-shot by one & die via the long, slow, lingering agony of peritonitis or gangrene. [shudders just thinking about it.] Also, have you ever done any experimentation along the lines of the old British "manstopper" 38/200 scaled down to the 32 S&W? That was always the way to increase the terminal ballistics for BP, since you basically had a hard ceiling on velocity: either increase the bore or throw a heavier shot [usually both.]

Isn't casting it to screen more of an OS/Browser issue than the host? WinBlows/A_droid/SnAppleOS playing nice w/ your TV? Sorry, not up to speed w/ the tech, I'm old school & just watch it on the computilo or via SmartTube app on the tv once it's available on TheirTube [it sure isn't You(rs) or Mine...]

Love this content. I never had much natural interest in old west history/guns but that changed a while ago with another inRange video. Now I never miss these!

It will be released on YouTube later today. I'm going to stop doing these early releases on patrron. They clearly are more of a problem than a benefit. Seems to induce a lot of confusion. I've been trying to optimize the release times on YouTube for greater engagement. Since the video was ready early, I published it earlier here as a perk. It goes live on YouTube in three hours.

Would love to watch this by casting it to my screen....patreon doesn't seem to support that, tho. Is there a YouTube link?

yeah maybe weak but they maybe understood better back then that tiny holes can also be fatal. now I don't like weak calibers much. getting one in a vital organ or the gead though.... has to be some reason a 32 was the most common caliber in ww1, - great revolver, huh. some good features to it,

Content like this is why I support you on this platform. Thanks

I've gotta say, I find these looks at more "everyday" life (in most, if not all aspects) in the Old West really interesting. It's easy to make the "cool, flashy" version of the Old West palatable to an audience, but you take the time to talk about more what it was like for most people, living there. I appreciate that.
