2024-05-23 22:58:19 +0000 UTCLate to this. But @ 13 min mark, USUALLY, a DQ for a vacant title means the title stays vacant. And a DQ in one of these matches would only count for 1 fall. They've done it where 1 person gets themselves DQd on purpose and give up the first fall by using a weapon to soften them up and get the next 2 falls consecutively. @ 22 min, yeah usually they'll trade falls and it comes down to the 3rd, but it's not unheard of for someone to get 2 straight falls and the match ends on a shocker. I believe HHH did that to Stone Cold if I'm remembering right.

2024-05-15 19:20:20 +0000 UTCYou wouldn't guess from just his match but Adam Cole is one of the nicest human beings I have ever seen in wrestling. Back in NXT and now in AEW. When he's not wrestling as Adam Cole he's streaming video games on twitch as TheChugs. And unlike some wrestlers who do twitch streaming as a nice side activity Adam really cares for it. So much that around the time his WWE contract expired WWE had a ban on their wrestlers have twitch streams and that was part of his decision to go to AEW because he refused to leave the fans/friends he made on twitch behind. I was very happy to see Adam and MJF main event AEW All In at Wembley.

Also just curious if it’s possible to get the match as the main screen and you in the smaller screen? Just so it’s easier to see the match itself. Oh god I forgot you were going to hear Mauro Ranallo on commentary. Most people love his commentary but I despise it. You want to care about Ciampa? Watch him vs Gargano from NXT Takeover New Orleans and you will care. By the way the guy who jumped on the apron first is Roderick Strong, the ginger is Kyle O’Reilly and the other guy is Bobby Fish. Strong and O’Reilly are in AEW and Fish is doing MMA I think. Also the move O’Rejlly and Fish hit is called Total Elimination. It’s a somewhat famous tag team finishing move. Good thing you did keep watching after the match ended because that Ciampa’s face turn after being the most hated heel in WWE.

2024-05-13 10:12:29 +0000 UTCFor a little extra context on both of these guys: they were among the big indie wrestling stars in the late 2000s/ early 2010s. Adam Cole was probably the bigger of the two, as he was a top guy in Ring of Honor(which was THE big indie company for a long time), he did some work with New Japan, joined Bullet Club, and so on. Gargano was more of a name in certain circles, being a top guy in smaller but notable companies like Evolve and Dragon Gate USA. At this time the WWE were snatching up a lot of names from the indies, and Cole was kind of a no-brainer. Gargano was a bit more divisive and less known. However, the guy who ran a lot of the indies Gargano was coming up in had a solid relationship with the WWE. So Evolve became a place where NXT would also find people. This not only included Gargano, but others like Riddle and Drew McIntyre would have runs in Evolve that paved the way for their modern WWE runs.

2024-05-13 05:58:01 +0000 UTCI can agree that the Devil and Undisputed Kingdom stuff has mostly fallen flat. But things only really went downhill when Cole got hurt. For the majority of 2023 he was presented as a big deal, and the fans bought into it. I think AEW has better booking than some of its haters give it credit for, but one of their biggest weaknesses is definitely their struggle to rewrite things when injuries interfere. It’s not the first time a big injury messed things up and they had a hard time figuring out how to keep things moving and compelling. Twice now the poor guy has had his momentum stolen from him. But TK clearly adores the man, and he has shown time and time again the ability to build himself up. So I think he’s gonna be fine.

2024-05-13 05:43:52 +0000 UTCAdam definitely can cut promos and get the crowd behind him I’ll give you that. I’m a huge MJF fan so him turning babyface is exactly what I didn’t want from him. The whole thing with Roderick, Taven and Bennett being made out to be job guys and having Adam race around the kitchen and cut their lawn killed it for me. When the reveal happened at Worlds End for the injured Adam Cole to be the Devil and his henchmen are the comedy goofs it killed the angle. He had steam until All In London then after that it was straight downhill. The biggest showing is that for the upcoming AEW ppv the main heel faction doesn’t even have a compelling storyline. Something might happen now but that’s lazy and rushed booking.

He’s mostly been held back by two serious injuries cutting off his momentum. Dude was a big deal in the indies prior to WWE as well. Cole has just always had an aura about him that gets the hardcore fans cranked up. I think if he had gone up to the main roster instead of leaving, he probably would have fared better than Gargano has. But I can’t blame him for choosing to take a chance elsewhere, and AEW has treated him well.

2024-05-12 21:10:01 +0000 UTCAs someone who started watching WWE around 2010 as a kid, dropped it then picked it back up in 2022 I missed all of this NXT stuff. I know Adam Cole as being in AEW but people always say he was way more popular in NXT. What Tony Khans booking has done to Adam plus Adam looking a lot more skinnier has really not done him many favors. Johnny Gargano kind of the same deal everyone says you gotta see him in NXT to get a clear picture of how he was over. It just doesn't really hit the same on the main roster he's just unappealing, bland and small. I know the small NXT guys like this are Triple Hs guys and he's gonna try and get people to like them but it's just not taking at all.
