2024-09-27 16:42:55 +0000 UTCdanielson is imo the best wrestler alive today. him and gunther are neck and neck but i give bryan the edge. although he still has classics in wwe in his catalog, more often than not wwe never let him show his full potential. not just in ring work, but as a superstar in general. like a lot of the comments are saying this is the start of the yes movement which got bryan super over. sadly before this bryan obviously had talent and even won a world championship but they were giving him terrible feuds / straight up burying him. for example losing to sheamus in like 20 seconds at mania 28, and debuting with the nexus and then getting his entire group buried by cena at SS 2010. even tho i would say he was the most over character wise in WWE, i still think his best in ring work comes from the indies / AEW. danielson vs nigel ROH 2006 comes to mind which was a classic. another one of my favorite matches of all time from that era of ROH that i would recommend is samoa joe vs cm punk 2 which was a 60 minute iron man classic. and ofc this AEW run he’s been on is one of the greatest of all time i mean him against ospreay, zack sabre jr, kenny omega. danielson can be argued as the best wrestler of all time. sorry for the long message i just really wanted to give bryan his praise 😭 also i think you should watch maybe a short youtube documentary on the yes movement or maybe watch orton vs batista vs bryan at WM30 with one of the best video packages of all time. it was an awesome time to be a fan, some might say it’s better than the we want cody movement!

In case of Cody, he kinda scripted babyface push, when The Rock return, people complain on social media, so Triple H change the plan, but Vince Mcmahon despite fan chant Bryan name, he still refuse to push him. They bring Batista back to become a face to face the WWE champion at Wrestlemania 30, poor man, he's good but the Yes movement just too crazy at that point, for month, people boo Batista, I mean it very awkward honestly to act like a face but being boo.

Them referring to him as a "young man" in this isn't entirely accurate. He is 4 years younger than Cena, but they both started wrestling in 1999. Bryan just took longer to get to WWE because of Vince's preference for bigger guys.

In hindsight, the We Want Cody Movement was very similar to the Yes Movement. WWE starts a great story with a guy the fans like. The story is obviously supposed to end at Wrestlemania. WWE tries to give that Mania match to a part time Hollywood star. The fans refuse to accept it and WWE is forced to change course back to the obvious plan.

2024-07-04 17:46:52 +0000 UTCSo 2 things about this match it was the 1st time Bryan used the running knee as a finish the submission which you you said looked like a different STF was his finisher called the Label Lock but got renamed the Yes Lock and Orton and HHH were both faces going into it so they both turned heel here leading to The Authority stable which also plays into The Shield's Story if you ever get around to the history of them

2024-07-04 17:36:37 +0000 UTCI almost suggested the Money in the Bank Match that Orton won for the briefcase that he used at the end of this match because it’s a really good one. I so hope you consider doing one more match because my suggestion lost out by like five votes and it did get more than New Years Revolution. I had stopped watching WWE TV week to week by this point and the Network hadn’t started so I missed this show. I had ordered Money in the Bank the month before and I rarely got to order PPVs. I was also in high school at the time and here in Aus the shows are on at 9 or 10am so I was already at school so I couldn’t watch them even if I wanted to. I watched this match for the first time last year and I didn’t think it was all that special. A lot of people say this is a fantastic match and along with Punk vs Brock on the same show (which I also don’t think is that great) make it one of the best SummerSlams ever when that just isn’t true at all imo. I love this cash in though. They do the confetti and everything only for Orton’s music, they do the fake out, Triple H turns heel and then Orton actually cashes in. My favourite part is H saying “Ring the bell now, ring it!” That and all the internet fans getting their knickers in a knot back in 2013.
