Housewife Sim 1.2a

The 1.2a update - for real this time! When I refactored the story to fix Chapter 2 not working right with the desync issue, it totally broke Chapter 1. This update fixes that completely and solves a few other bugs. Other important notes:

Save file updates

Consider your save file broken.

This is normal for testing - the game is an Alpha release right now after all! I should have emphasized that more earlier but OMG. PLEASE. Don't send me debug messages unless it's on a new game. I replaced a bunch of stuff to make the story work better so things will be broken unless you do a new game.

That said, I learned... A lot... with the last two releases on keeping code sustainable. I do software dev for a living, but having my own freedom to let my code turn into a knotted mess was too tempting. I think future releases of this game will be better and much smoother.

Piracy and sad anonymooses

I kinda condone piracy for huge bloated studios, but at the same time, my links getting posted hurts - I'm just one girl here making games. I make this content in my spare time and would love to turn this into a job, but I can't without enough support. Cross-posting download links means I have less supporters, which makes it harder for me to turn this into a job, so please keep the links private and encourage supporters! I went ahead and deactivated the links in old posts, so old download links for this game are now broken.

If you have ideas for how I can better garner support or turn this into a job too - I'm all ears - I'm so tired of the corporate life.

Based on the arithmatic of his subscriber page, though, from patreon alone he's not yet earning annual income comparable to a top 50% us-based software developer salary though he may have other things like custom content request or deviant art subs

Bladerune9 seems to have reached about 2000 patreon subscribers and made it a full time job. AFAIK he's the only one to be full time amongst weight gaming forum. He's active on discord, you may be able to ask him directly. https://www.patreon.com/Bladerune9

That was a good read - thanks. That actually helps me feel better. It's actually kinda empowering... I can do this - I just have to find those fans. It's always a struggle to FIND those fans though. The Weight Gaming forum has been huge, but where else do I find people who like this sort of content? I stumbled on the Weight Gaming forums after finding the Forks VN by pure chance and it stuck with me and was what started all this.

the 1000 true fans is an old article and it's arguably the inspiration for patreon. it's about 20 years old now, though. As general economic inequality has continued to increase, a lot of creator economy (and general economy) models have shifted from "mass affluent" where you have a sizable amount of people paying a substantial but small amount, to a "whale" model where you have a lot of people paying very very little and a few "whales" who pay tons of money for exclusives. My hunch is that fetish content is a better fit for whaling. By definition, there are a minority of people interested, and those who find their niche tend to be more into it than general p*rn (which is a commodity that suffers from a race to the bottom). You mentioned onlyfans -- a lot of niche models will make most money through custom and private DMs and use the subs as customer acquisition for low cost / free. It's not obvious ex-ante which is right for you, and you may only be able to really figure out through trial and error.

All that said - you may be right. I do have some other ideas for broadening support. I've had a lot of people after Neon Dreams ask about my pronouns (she / her / hers - cis female) and I finally built the confidence for that, so why not try take that further. I'm thinking out loud, but OnlyFans or other custom content isn't really a stretch at this point.

I do think there's a lot of potential for custom character development there too. I have a $500/mo tier that hasn't had any bites yet to have me make and include original characters in existing games. At first I felt that was too high, but the change in creative process required and work to properly include another's original character really takes that much work. It wouldn't be right for me to offer it lower - because then I couldn't guarantee i really included the character as the supporter sees it - I'd be really just winging it with a concept.

I think you underestimate the market - I have a pretty good core supporter base that keeps growing, and I have a few ideas to grow that, but they take time. With Housewife Sim, I think I'll release Chapter 1 for free for all as a "demo" and price-lock the beta releases behind Patreon. I'd like to then release the game on Steam just to see what happens and give supporters a free key to the final release. The world's a really big place and I have great supporters in countries outside the USA - the internet's amazing and allows me to connect to lots of people into this sort of content. The problem is having people find my content - and then keep cranking out progressively better content to make it worthwhile to stay subscribed.

as for turning this into a job: I think the market for these types of games is very small overall. The best strategy from a business perspective is probably finding ways to make things accessible to a lot of people with low WTP, and offering exclusive perks to a few people with high WTP. That's actually how most games work now, with "freemium" + micro transactions. I don't think this stuff has the scale for micro transactions, but offering custom characters or development is one way to approach it; for thousands of dollars not 30/month. You may only get a few people paying that but it could be worth it. Even then, though, it's probably going to be hard do completely full-time, given the TAM (total addressable market)

Ok - that's great feedback!

Of course! But like special sweaters, Jumpsuits or even like a full body onesies she could wear! Honestly nothing even lewd, more like cute stuff

Dragonstorm121

What sort of outfits would you like to see? I may be able to implement that in the future - but it would only be during core gameplay, not cutscenes.

Anonymoose Yeets

First of all, thanks for all of your work! What would be nice, at least in my opinion would be like...choices for clothes in certain stages, like a voting on Patreon

Dragonstorm121

Thank you for your hard work.
