Classroom Doodles day 3: Zein

On the third day of the class, I ended up spending almost the whole time working on Zein's newer dragon-design. There's a bit more here, so I'm going to be attaching the images individually below and type out any text, and any comments I have on them. If you're not really interested in that, you can stop reading here, I guess? 

"Name's Zein Xiii.
I am a demigod, child of Dynasty, goddess of the cosmos, and Xertein Xiii, an exile of an old warrior race. It's a bit cliche, yes, but they're family and I can look past that. Both of them are shapeshifters, of course through different means. My father's was a gift, a reward for saving someone's family on a distant planet. He is universal to any animal, and in accompanied by a bright flash of light when he changes. My mother's was innate. Part of her divine powers. She may be gone, but I've done my best to fill her role as the local diety, under Lodione's guidance. My powers aren't that strong, but they're improving with her help." 

This was the first page I drew of zein, and what kind of got me onto the kick of working on his design. The writing was done in cursive because I was paranoid about other people reading over my shoulder, and I figured it'd slow down anyone trying to read it. 

The main "details" page I drew up for him. Most of the rest of the pages are mostly doodles.

-Dragonish Design?

-Lower arm is thicker
-4 fingers instead of 5
-Tail length is same as height, plus tail fluff
-Bird-like claws
-Rough pads on hands
-Thumb has a large range of movement
-Mane slightly goes up back
-Horns go down then up
-fur tufts on the end of ears. 

At this point I was just trying to get a better grasp on the dragon form. I didn't have any references or anything, and couldn't pull anything up since I was in class. 

Same as before. Trying to get used to the noodle dragon design. 

"The dragon stuff? It happened after my powers hit a certain point. It's definitely [stronger] than before, but it's still awkward. It's huge, even larger than the Aerolithe. There's far less structure to the body. The torso is long and thin between the shoulders and hips, with a very flexible spine. It requires a constant focus to keep from falling anytime the muscles relax, which can through my legs off balance. And the distance between my front and back legs differs based on how straight my torso is, so I never know very well where my back legs are because I can't tell how far back they are." 

This page started as a sketch page, with just a brief comment about the dragon look.... and somehow it ended up a second page just covered in cursive writing. 

Zein is big. his full form is taller than trees. And his dragon form stretches like a cat. Just some flavor sketches here. 

"Inner toe/clas turns to back, similar to birds" 

when I initially wrote that, I remembered that some birds had talon that could swivel from front to back, but when i searched it up after the class, it turned out they don't work quite like I was picturing, so the statement written is a bit inaccurate.
