I could write so much about this video that I almost didn’t watch! My comment for a tip is to wait to talk about important topics until both are in the right mindset, not tired, hungry, mad . I have recently had the best conversations with my husband of 30 years when we’ve satisfied our physical and sometimes intimate needs and then talking about one thing at a time. Layering topics is not a good idea because it gets sticky. But focusing in a natural non forced way about issues of concern is helping my marriage greatly! Thanks for this. Love when Lauren shared that she still feels safe with rob even when I’m conflict with him and touching response of rob. ❤️😊

On the subject of how to talk to your spouse when they are in a mental crisis: It's interesting that you say establishing trust is really important, I have found when I try to establish trust with my husband is that he just becomes suspicious of me - like why would I be trying to establish trust, I must be up to something. What I found works best for us is for me to be as an unemotional and clinical as possible. I give him information robotically and then I leave it. I try to never demand an immediate response from him so he can have time to process. If I really need an answer, we will set a time for him to give me a response. I won't say it's a perfect system, but it has worked a lot better for us than me trying to appeal to his vulnerability or establish trust. Maybe it's because we've known each other so long, but assuming that he trusts me and me trusting that he will hear me in his own time feels important. I think me trying to establish trust when he is in a crisis (when we have such an established relationship and trust already) maybe looks like I've been untrustworthy to him and am suddenly trying to hide it. Or maybe my trust establishment skills just suck, LOL
