Second Strip Per Month

Hey boys and girls,

I originally meant to only start producing strips when the goal of $500 per strip was reached, but as a compromise, started at 1/month once we reached $300, which we did. I knew this way the odds were good I wouldn't lose any money. My secret plan was that once we'd reach $400, I'd add a second strip (so one every other week).

We're coming closer to that objective and I'm very excited. But the way Patreon works, you can set monthly limits on what a creator can charge. This is a very reasonable feature, obviously, but one that creates a bigger risk for a creator like me who has expenses for every strip.

So before I start producing a second strip every month, I want to make sure you're okay being charged a second time in the month. Please take a few seconds to answer this poll and help me sleep at night.

Unfortunately, Patreon only allows a choice between monthly or per creation, not a hybrid of the two. I chose per creation (and a target of $500/creation) to get better control over the budget, and I tried to create benefits that would make it worth the while for higher-paying backers. If there are extra benefits that I could offer to make it a better incentive for higher-tier patrons, I'd love to consider it.

One thought. People are currently paying anything between one and ten dollars per creation, and those who signed up to pay $10 might baulk if they are being asked to pay $20. It would seem fairer if those in the lower tiers were to continue to pay per creation but those in the higher tiers were to pay per month, if Patreon is set up to allow you to implement that. Alternatively perhaps those in the higher tiers could pay half as much per creation as now, meaning that the amount they pay per month would be unchanged.
