There I was, working from home and minding my own business, when I heard someone put something in my mailbox. This struck me as unusual because the postwoman does her run between 9 and 10 AM every day. Soon after, I heard a car start in front of my door and drive away. I work near the front of my condo, but by the time I looked outside, the vehicle was already gone. I shrugged, put it out of my mind, and finished work.
When I got my mail after work, there was a single envelope in the mailbox. It was the size of a birthday card, with only my handwritten name on the front, no stamp or return address. I opened it, curious as to what it could be (my birthday is in six months, so that couldn't be it). Inside, there was a creepy message (same handwriting):
You have been found. There is but one fate for you and the pests that live within your walls. They threaten your well-being and your community. Take action now.
I'm not ashamed to say, I was a little creeped out. I called Brooke to ask for advice, and she said it might be an ad for an extermination service.
Somehow, I don't think so. I'm going to keep a close eye on my mailbox in case whoever wrote this returns.
