Jaycee's Blog - Wed, July 29

Lucas and Nathalie stayed until yesterday morning, so I've had my first day of good rest since they arrived. You'd be surprised how taxing it is to stay guarded at all times and hope one of four crazy faeries doesn't make you sleep with your sister, her husband, or both.

I did have a moment to talk to Attitude and Fantasia (the more senior faeries) Monday night, once I was by myself. Attitude didn't really care what I did, but if I revealed her existence, it would give her more options to have fun with him. She may not be allowed to cast magic directly on him (that's faerie law), but she could impact other people near him and get him involved in "sexy shenanigans." Fantasia was hoping I'd tell him and cracked her knuckles, already thinking about how she'd involve him in all manners of sexy scenarios. Grief and Naughtybelle wanted to chime in, but the two older faeries shushed them down.

Honestly, I was terrified any of this was going to come out and impact my sister's relationship with Lucas, so I decided I'd keep my mouth shut. Later that night, Lucas came back up (after he "put Nathalie to sleep," no doubt a euphemism for something I'd rather not think about). We talked some more about his faerie (which I treated as imaginary even though I knew it was true). He said she was putting him through countless humiliations, some of which had nearly gotten him fired from his job. (He'd had to go through several counselling sessions, however, but it was just a matter of time before his reputation was ruined.) We had some drinks and I had some encouraging words for him.

Having gone through much of the same, I know the challenges that come with having faeries around. At first, the sex sounds like a good idea, but once the novelty of that wears off, you're left with problems that require time and energy to handle. You also can't have normal relationships with people who aren't "in the know," and once they are, they're fair game for the faeries. It's a moral quandary because you can't ask them their opinion before telling them.

And this is the crux of Lucas's problem. He's been wondering whether he should tell Nathalie and potentially ruin her life, or just walk away and break both their hearts. Sure, they're casting magic on her now, but if he disappears, he doesn't think DéMonique will keep harassing her. Maybe that's for the best. I told him that I knew she loved him a lot, but she's my sister and I don't want her to get hurt. Whatever he decided, he'd have to figure out what would be best for her first.

Anyway, that was that for Monday. On Tuesday, we went hiking in a nearby national park. The pair disappeared for twenty minutes—no doubt to have forest sex somewhere—and came back looking a bit disheveled. Yesterday, we went to the city zoo. There was nowhere to hide. As the day progressed and my sister got randier, she couldn't keep her hands off Lucas. The way she kissed him and groped him in the dark room of the medusa display, we're lucky not to have been thrown out.

They left early yesterday and are gone now. And it suddenly occurs to me that Lucas didn't  hesitate to tell me about his faerie. Technically, that would make me vulnerable to her, though I'm officially off-limits since I've already got a faerie mistress (Attitude, as you well know). Still, he couldn't possibly know that, so by telling me, he was putting me in actual jeopardy and he knew it.

What a jackass!
