Added 2022-02-11 10:18:43 +0000 UTCSince this was the first strip of the reboot, I wanted to re-establish who our main characters were. Little Attitude is back, but instead of being someone the story is told TO, she's actually a participant in the story. I wanted to have someone to act as a proxy for the readers, someone other characters can explain things to. Autumn is also back, obviously.
And there's Heather. Whereas she used to be a total bitch in the early days of the original comic, I felt I never went far enough in expressing how malicious she really was. This time around, I want her to be a bit more sadistic in the ways she hurts people. For starters, she's not going to remember anyone's names, especially not the servants. We're seeing the beginning of this here.
Marie is also back as her old, chubby self. I don't know if I'll bring back "Sexy Marie," we'll see. I'm not outright trying to make the comic more inclusive, but there are more types of beauty than just skinny/busty, something I recognize I might have done a LOT in the original comic. In the twelve years since I started BF, my mindset has shifted somewhat. I recognize I may have had a shallow approach to body types. Large women can be sexy, even if it's not one of my personal preferences. As we move forward with the reboot, I think I'd feel better if I portrayed more than just one type of beauty.
Aaand on these very philosophical thoughts, I'll just sign off and go write some more stuff.
