Sketch #508

When you know your body, you know your body!

Sketch #508

I do like the idea of the bands, but at the end of the day, it's mostly an efficiency shortcut. You can get the same info by just talking to people. The only benefit I can see is to avoid rejection for those cases where you'd ask and have no shot.

As a rule, if there's not informed and enthusiastic consent on both sides, that's a red light for me no matter how much I might need the action. There's unfortunately not symmetry in men-women relationships and there will probably never be. We (males) are socialized to be the instigators of sex while women are (generally) expected to wait for it. (Those that break those social rules are often punished, shamed, or otherwise ostracized for it.) Women are also at significantly greater risk than men; all other things being equal, it's their health and bodies that are the most impacted by a pregnancy. Unfortunately, we did not evolve to be binary or symmetrical, so it's okay (in my mind anyway) to make some allowances in our social dynamics to rebalance things a bit. I still think we men come out ahead: we can pee standing up.

I agree, I believe that imagination and fiction should not be limited or censored. People enjoy different things and have the freedom to read/watch them or not. The bands might have been more of an idea for a Sex Club rather than a Night Club. I just thought it was an interesting idea for people to have some sort of symbol which says what they are looking for during their night out. Do they just want to chat and dance, or are they looking for someone to have sex with? Just something to make things a little clearer.

To be honest, I agree with you on that, I was unsure if he was serious or not. We were discussing the issue of how at what point a woman at the clubs becomes incapable of consent, especially in a situation both parties were very drunk and could make decisions they would not make usually. The issue is that in that situation in the past what would have been said is that they both made a mistake and leave it at that, now however the man would be accused of rape even though he was just as incapable of giving consent as the woman. He made the statement about the camera after that. Whether he was serious or just being silly I don't know. But these days I could imagine that before a man has sex with a woman he gets his phone and with permission and films her asking if she gives consent, maybe even have an app that quickly tests the woman and man are mentally capable at that time of giving consent.

As for your friend with a camera, I'm no lawyer, but there might be ramifications about recording sexual acts with someone who's not aware they're being filmed. Even if he's got proof the other person content to sex, that's also proof the other person didn't consent to being filmed while having sex (unless that's also recorded, of course).

Some of that Dark Fate stuff would probably be a little too hardcore for me, even as a fantasy, but when it comes to what gets people off, I'm never judging. We're all allowed to fantasize about anything we want (and I mean anything!). It's when it comes to the real world that I take these things more seriously.

Jaycee Knight

I had a friend at university who said he only had sex at his home because he kept a camera on to record consent being given. Unsure if he was joking or if he was that worried.

In Dark Fate, Stuart Grosse introduced a system of armbands that stated what what approval a person was given. No Band - No public sex must be consensual (Default) White - Public sex must be consensual Blue - Opposite Sex Only - No consent is needed as long as no injured caused Green - Same Sex Only - No consent is needed as long as no injured caused Red - Everyone - No consent is needed as long as no injured caused Yellow added to the above colours - Can cause injured. Black - Anything goes even enslavement With Yellow and Black need psychiatric evaluation. Magic meant they could on be put on or taken off voluntarily for free-person. Slave had no choice. I thought it was a really interesting system and wondered if some like that could be implemented in certain clubs in real life.

Demian Buckle

For sure, it's very tricky (and volatile) stuff.

Jaycee Knight

In this sketch it could be considered foreplay which led to heightened arousal and led to her accepting the offer, she always had the option to reject. But can arousal lead to such a level when a person will do anything that the person wants, the same principle as torture?

Demian Buckle

Half jokingly, I once argued with a woman that we men should walk around with a legal consent form stating that on this time and date, she consented to having sex with me. Not very spontaneous, but it would offer some protection to those of us who aren't total jackasses. She didn't like the idea very much. ;)

Jaycee Knight

A Kiss, an expensive meal, or a present could all be called inducements for sex which we can all call polite or accepted practices. However, drugs and violence are also inducements, if not wanted are rape but can also be acceptable. So I guess inducements are subjective depending on the people and situation.

Demian Buckle

It is a very difficult question. If a woman is drunk and gives consent she can then go back later and it is called rape. Even if the male was just as drunk in the situation. That has always seemed unfair to me.

Demian Buckle

I'd love to hear what people's thoughts on this are. I'm sure it'll lead to an interesting conversation.

Jaycee Knight

You can tell they are Royalty, we know the magic word is "please" but for them it's "now". Is it consent when that consent is induced? If it is what is the limit on inducement?
