Ask Me Anything #4 - Bloomin' Trivia!

Last time I asked for AMA topics, some questions were about the comic and the faeries themselves, so I thought I'd answer a lot of them here, along with a few that you may not have asked but might like to hear the answers to.

Are faeries affected by cold iron?

Not directly, no. Faeries can become intangible instantly and at will, so it won't directly touch them or affect them. There are some pretty rare spells that use cold iron as a base to create containment cages that can block a faerie's powers (as seen in the first Li Fang Fei story). There's no technical downside to using them, but if the goal is to get a faerie to do something for you, she can't do it from inside the cage. And once you let her out... watch out!

Will we ever get to see Baby and Sir Thane again?

Absolutely. They're among my favorite characters as well, so they'll definitely be back. The real question is WHEN. I seem to have my hands busy with Heather, Alberta, and Aidan, so I don't know when I'll get to them. I also want a fresh take on them. Since there's been a reboot, I don't have to redo them exactly as before.

Who will NOT be back?

I don't know if I'll be bringing back the two nuns or Lucky & Patience. I don't think the Wizard/Sorceress will be back. Same with Lara, I think. Mirror is gone and with it, most of the elves as they were presented. I want to introduce more non-human races in the reboot, and having a race that's completely hidden from view kind of sucks. :)

How can you "own" a faerie?

Long-time readers probably know this already, but it's worth reiterating for those who joined in the last year or two. There are two methods, so to speak.

Can faerie magic be permanent?

Sort of. By definition, it's not meant to be, but it can last a very, very long time. If a lot of power and effort is put into a spell, it can probably be designed in such a way that it lasts longer than the target's life, which effectively makes it permanent. Faeries aren't that interested in this kind of permanency, however, and it's rarely worth the effort. They have to be pretty determined to make a spell that will last this long, and their emotions rarely last long enough for them to carry this through. They are fickle and whimsical creatures after all.

That's it for this time! If you have more questions for the next AMA, please leave them in the comment section below.

As I mentioned about Patience on the Discord server, I'm not set against it if I can find an interesting story arc for him/her.

Same as Lucky/Patience. They’ve gone through such many transformations (and this is what I like the most, to be honest - transformations). Not that I’m not satisfied of current amount of magical changes :) But I’m not sure if it’s even possible to reach the “enough” level ever :)

Not bringing back Wizard/Sorceress will be a huge loss for me :(
