She's on the move!

Hi guys!

In this week's video, we start the journey up the ICW (IntraCoastal Waterway) aboard Spiffy.

In real-time news. We arrived in Oriental earlier today. We have done very long days to cover the distance as quickly as possible. There are two reasons for this.

1) I think we have both had our fill of the ICW for a little while, and bringing Spiffy north, to be honest, wasn't that much fun. She looks very rough. We figured we were very likely to attract some attention, and that we did. We were boarded to check our registration and USCG required items (PFDs, floats, flares, etc) and received two additional visits from the police, along with a homeowner next to where we were anchored, who suggested that we would be much more comfortable at anchor somewhere else (a wierd interaction that could be a story all on it's own). Mind you, all that happened over the span of a little over 24 hours. After that, we really put the pedal to the fiberglass. Yesterday we did 92 miles (anchor up at 6 am and back down at 8 pm) in one day. That's not impressive for offshore sailing, but for being on the ICW, I think we did pretty well.
While bringing Athena up, not once did we have any interaction like the ones we have experienced with Spiffy. I get it, she looks rough, and a lot of areas have had or still have issues with abandoned boats, but that still didn't make this a fun experience.

2) Ava is going back to London for work on August 1st, so for her to be able to lend a hand with getting spiffy hauled, we needed to get here ASAP. We have a haulout booked for Tuesday. Fingers crossed. We'll do a live update about how that pans out :)

We have lots of moving stuff off of the catamaran, so I'd better get back to that :) Have a fantastic weekend! Thank you so much for your support.

I didn't think about the unwanted attention, but I can see it. (I understand Florida is cracking down on boats that don't look nice.) I guess you could have put a message on the hull advertising your "work in progress", with your logo and url. Maybe people would have understood that you're not vagrants. Glad you made it, and I'm looking forward to your NC adventures!

Hopefully your haul out went well today and you both can do a live update for us before Ava leaves again
