It'll be great that after all the shit that went down, Lucian's trial is what's going to mentally fuck him—the afterthought event in his mind. Gonna be like Erlebnis from Nemo's previous story.

He has to worry about Lydia, Theobald, Lucian, the monastics, the other four nations, Belcourt, and the rest of the demon conspiracy. And he has pretty much no clue on what's actually going on. Add on the fact that he thinks he'll be dying soon, and also that it looks like his disease is going to be unexpectedly cured. A very confusing time to be Cyril Villamar. Very astute of Aurelia to figure that out about Lucian. It's a pretty unreasonable conclusion to jump to. Her response to it is quite strange. No judgment or fear towards the body snatcher who's deceiving the family of his host. If she wasn't just acting, the discovery just seemed to be exciting for her. Maybe she just likes lies and manipulation. Or this is just another step in getting herself into a position of more control.

2025-12-16 14:04:06 +0000 UTCCame away with a similar understanding. If youre familliar with pokemon: (genuinely the only good analogy i could think of, sorry!) Ditto copies other pokemon it has seen before - takes their shape and abilities etc. Thats the formless essence. Instead of it taking on the shape of living things, its magic. In our case, the blessings have joined lucian's existing magical affinities as abilities, becoming the same as everything else in the formless soup. Back to the ditto analogy, the ditto cant rip part of itself out to give an ability to someone else - it'll die However: magical abilities in this world can be stored in scrolls and potions for later use, and imparted through support/buff spells. So in our case, ditto temporarily turns into the desired thing, imbues it into a scroll/potion or weaves it into a support spell, then turns back. Whoever receives it is not permanently connected to lucian's essence pool, so it would be reasonable to speculate that the duration and/or strength of the blessing could depend on how much essence/mana is imbued. I imagine we wont have to speculate for too long - Nemo's usually got this sort of thing planned out and explained enough over 4-5 chapters or so

2025-12-16 07:51:03 +0000 UTCHmm... I'm still not entirely sure I understand the part about blessings. I think I get the part about impermanent energies. Formless Essence isn't creating actual demonic energy or mana, it is simply copying properties of those energies. I can get why purified essence can't be duplicated. It is likely not just made from energy, in the same way a body isn't, even if that body gains its power from internal energy. Formless Essence may be able to copy the internal energy, but not the body itself. In the same way, it probably can't create a soul. I guess my misunderstanding comes from the question of what blessings are. Are they bundles of divine energy that simply stick themselves to a person? Or maybe single use spells made from divine energy that modify a person's body? Or perhaps, like purified essence, they contain some crucial component not made from energy at all, that simply cannot be duplicated by Formless Essence. I suppose Charlton's solution is designed to sidestep the issue of their being some element to blessings that Formless Essence simply cannot copy? Perhaps Formless Essence is incapable of copying the property of permance that divine energy may possess. Or maybe blessings make modifications to the recipient, and Formless Essence can not be used to make those same modifications to other people. So instead, Charlton thinks Lucian should just form his magic in a way that will result in the effects of the blessing only being passed on temporarily? They were talking about transferring the effect. Was that about Lucain temporarily losing the benifits of the blessing, so others can borrow it, or is it just a copy, that can be shared without depriving Lucian of anything? If anyone understood better than me, I'd appreciate the extra perspective.
