2026-01-27 07:57:12 +0000 UTCTo be fair, while she technically didn't do the crime, she was like *right there*, metaphorical knife an inch away from the monasteries metaphorical heart. She'd spent months premeditatedly planning the death of literally everyone who she knew and who loved her. If this was a real court case, I'd advocate for life imprisonment.

2026-01-25 23:53:18 +0000 UTCAs far as Aurelia can tell, Lucian is some kind of heaven-sent literal Angel here to save the world. Pretty much ideal as far as a redeemer goes.

2026-01-25 23:28:05 +0000 UTCI am glad that on patreon at least we all collectively started kicking our feet metaphorically or literally in this case :) I love this ship and I do really hope to get an interlude with aurelia's pov to understand her feelings

2026-01-25 13:32:36 +0000 UTCI don't need Aurelia to confess to the monastery. Not yet at least. It'd be much better if she does it after Lucian starts to, against his better judgement, trust her more and is willing to intervene on her behalf after that confession. I'm fully on board for the rehabilitate the bad guy train. It's an amazing story beat as long as it's not used for every single villain. In this case, I'd even argue that while what Aurelia would have done is bad, she never did it and now can't do it. That means we're in a minority report situation, where she'd be punished for a crime she didn't do. She's been afforded a chance to learn her lesson, to change. Because people aren't static and in this case she does have mitigating circumstances. Having a literal ancient demon manipulating her in her dreams for who knows how long is exactly that. Yes in the end the choice was hers but... She was just as naive as the rest of the people at the monastery. Anyway, great chapter. I hated all the secondary embarrassment I felt at the entire situation. It was awful xD. Did exactly what it set out to do, was genuinely quite funny, and I'm still going to love how everything develops. Nemobrosus, you're doing a great job at giving the characters their own voice and making them feel quite distinct. Stellar job!

2026-01-25 07:37:36 +0000 UTCStill no confession. But Aurelia sort of promised to only do it after Lucian finally managed his beast transformation. I still get the feeling that Aurelia is a person very drawn to things she can't get. From the very start of their relationship, Lucian has been showing her scorn and disrespect, and she's been trying to increase his opinion of her. I feel like the emperor being so generous and interested backfired, because it all being so easy doesn't interest her at all. Edit: I wouldn't say Aurelia even wants Lucian in a romantic way. If anything, she wants to possess him in the same way she possessed all the monastics of Heavenwatch. To have him, in some way, look up to her, while also having the ability to make him do whatever she pleases by pulling on his 'strings'. To make him genuienly regret the way he's treated her.
