Added 2023-03-02 02:12:11 +0000 UTCAfter completing Tonitrux' picture, I was eager to go just as far with the following project - a coloured and unshaded sketch of Doven wearing, well, what he is wearing. Due to a small communication issue, I created two versions - which do you prefer? The original would be the one with the darker shirt.
To construct the image, I used a very simple perspective on Doven himself. Rather than account for camera distortion, I forced myself to pay close attention to the proportions and skeleton. This is because I attempted to draw him in a way similar to that of Spyro's anthropomorphic adult dragons. At least 4 or 5 drawings of his posture were carried out, alongside several studies of Taran Fiddler's fantastic work. After that, I drew the clothes on top.
As for the background, I went a little wild with it. I mostly knew I wanted something for him to lean on, and that a bright green might fit with the light greenish blue of his mane and shirt. Why it then got abstracted I have no idea. But it feels lightweight to me, as if he's been running, and it's spring. Maybe that is why I chose the colours to be so vibrant as well. I could use a warm spring walk.
