Gundam Seed: Kira Reloaded c44

Kira skimmed through the files, but his happiness that it was Akatsuki quickly disappeared. 

The files were a mess, the machine underwent several revisions, and the budget ballooned. 

“As you can see, it's a black hole in the budget. We acquired the Phase Shift armour tech from you, but we are far into this gold style of armour. 

Since you are the new CEO, this mobile suit development falls to you,” Lord Uzumi explained, making Kira slowly nod as he checked through the files.

“The only solution is to finish this style of armouring. However, gold prices are up, thanks to the conflict.” The brown haired Ultimate Coordinator reasoned.

“Indeed.”

“Then we can build up infrastructure to lower the development price.” Kira proposed.

“...Oh?”

“Orb has a Mass Drive. We can return to asteroid mining.” Freedom’s pilot suggested.

“We need raw materials for the elevator’s construction. We can cover up gold and other luxury material mining with that.” He suggested while stroking his chin.

“That means that we will need to visit the Asteroid belt.” 

It sounded like a great plan, but there are no asteroids to mine in the close vicinity. Most, if not all, belong to PLANTs, which have their own asteroid fields, which they brought from the Asteroid belt for raw materials.

Same with Earth Alliance… 

“With my new tech that we can add to warship thrusters, we could reach the Asteroid belt in a matter of days.” 

“In that case, I leave these things to you.” The old man got up, collected his documents, and left the mobile suit classified files with Kira. 

“Have a great day. My people will visit you with your uniforms and schedules.” With a small nod, he turned around and walked away. The Lion or Orb nodded at his parents before returning to his limo.

“Well, I do have some reading material in the meantime.” Kira smiled as he looked at the experimental tech.

“You can do it in your free time. Now we have something else to do.” Lacus reminded him about food.

“Right, I will put this in my room.” He nodded at her as he closed the file and walked to the house.

In the meantime, Lacus sighed as she recalled what had just happened. Kira had pretty much taken the whole country by its horns and would guide it into the future. 

Well, it's probably for the best, as Orb could lead by example, making other countries follow suit in the face of their military and economic might.

Midway, she realised that she would be noble.

“Oh my…”

That means dressing up all of that stuff. Thankfully, she is not new to that stuff.

“Lacus, what did he say?” Kira’s mother walked over as she was a bit worried.

“Well…”

After the barbecue was over, everyone was back in the house, as it was getting late. Kira was in front of his computer checking the land he wanted to buy.

Now that he was a noble, land acquisition was far easier for him. 

“What are you looking at?” Lacus asked him as she looked over his shoulder at the laptop screen.

“Land. I am thinking of getting this whole section.” Kira pointed at the cliff edge that moves into a beach. He circles the whole area with his finger.

“That’s quite a bit of land.” The girl commented that what he was showing her was on the opposite side of the capital, around an hour's drive from the city.

Very private land and away from people's eyes.

“It was never on sale, but because of my new status and military rank, I can get it," he told her with a smile.

“Oh, you're already using your status?” She didn’t look that surprised; Kira does use his status when he can. 

“Of course. What's the point of influence if not to use it?” He smiled for a second before showing something.

“Besides, look at this.” He went through some of his artwork. 

“This is the location of a new city that will be around the space elevator.” He pointed at the city built on water.

“If we are to lay down the elevator shaft in the water, between the three islands, Orb’s land area would double if not triple, depending on how the city development happens.” Kira showed her some of the art he had done a while back.

“When did you draw this?” She was surprised to see this! 

“When I was in Archangel.” He shrugged before pointing at something. “And this is where I am planning to buy the land.” He pointed at one of the edges of the island.

“We would have a panoramic view of not only the city, but also the elevator, and we have a good enough view of the stars thanks to the positioning of the land.” The Ultimate Coordinator explained to her in detail how much he thought about this.

“Since you thought about this that much, then you should take it.” Lacus didn’t argue, since he already thought about THAT far—more than she even thought about where they are going to live.

‘Is this how ZAFT felt when they faced him in battle? He was that much in front of them that all they could do was surrender?’

“Yep~” Kira turned around and saw that his gorgeous fiancée was in her new pink sleeping dress. She was beautiful. He quickly pulled her into his lap.

“Do you want to see what I am planning for the Elevator?” With Lacus in his hand, he returned to his laptop to show her his plans for economic supremacy and an unlimited source of energy.

“Okay~.”

Kira went through more artwork that he had in place. The girl saw a bunch of folders for them. He was damn serious when he said that he is prepared for both, peace and war.

“The current issue that we face is that mass drives are lacking the capacity to launch stuff to space.

While they are superior to regular vertical rocket launches, which we used before, they still lack the cargo they can carry, which is necessary for humanity to flourish on the planet’s surface.

That is where the elevator comes to play. It will have twenty lines of magnet rails that will travel up and down.

These linear trains will pull a massive amount of cargo from planet to space, alongside a large number of people.

It will be extremely easy to travel to the point that people could work in space through the day and return home in the evening.” He explained to her, while showing concept pictures of linear trains, the interior of the elevator and how the city is going to look at the bottom of the space elevator. It will be a metropolis, that much is a guarantee.

“Amazing, how fast this could be built. It would take a decade at least, right?” Lacus was already sold on the fact that it would improve people's lives like that.

“If no one messes with us, it will be done in 18 months.” 

The girl snapped her head to the side and looked at him.

“T-That quick!? But it's hundreds of kilometres long!” 

Instead of replying, he showed her how it would be done. He already had concept art and designs ready.

“The infrastructure is already there.” He showed her the space station Ame No Mihashina. It has the forges that will build all the material we need; the issue is the material itself.”

“Oh, that's why you proposed Asteroid mining!” The girl quickly connected the dots. To think that he was already thinking about that!

“Not just that. But to flourish, society needs an abundance of power and resources. Once I secure all of that, then we can truly bring everlasting peace.” He smiled while saying that. 

Lacus hummed; her hum was a happy one. It appears he truly switched out of his war mode to peace mode.

“That’s great. Then I can assume we will be going to the Asteroid belt, soon?” It was clear that she would be coming with him. There is no way she will allow him to be alone! She knows how reckless he can be without her!

“Indeed, I will be bringing this to Orb’s cabinet. I just need to polish my presentation for them.”

“You can take your time. There is no need to rush.” The girl turned around a bit and wrapped her hands around his neck. She is ready to distract him.

They just returned from space and finished the war, yet he is already ready to get involved in stuff like this!

Now, she truly understands what she needs to do. She needs to be his break; otherwise, he will wear himself out.

“I know. That is why I will use this week to set all those details in place… and enjoy your company~~.” Kira smiled as his hands went around her waist.

Seeing how beautiful she was, he decided to comment.

“Will you be sleeping in my bed?” 

His question caused her to pout for a second. “Who do you think was at fault for me not being able to sleep by myself anymore?” she' righteously’ replied. Thanks to the war and the constant feeling that someone could attack, the girl ended up getting addicted to sleeping in his hands, on top of him, or cuddling…

Honestly, she can’t think of solutions to this, nor would she change anything.

“That’s a victory for me, then.” He joked, making her pout with red cheeks at him.

“Not funny, Kira.” Even if she said that she ended up placing her head on his shoulder, there was a smile on her lips.

Over the week, Kira set several things in motion. He went to check the land with Lacus, visited Morgenrote, and got all of his clearances as their boss.

As he was THE BOSS, now he decided to use his company for his house construction. From architects to engineers, they will assist him with all the special stuff he needs.

From workshop to house defences, all of that will be done by them. 

Apart from that, Kira used his access to check out all of the naughty stuff the Sahaku family had in the databanks.

From the Astrays they were building to the weapons they were developing, all of it was there.

While it was fascinating, he noticed that apart from things they developed software for, data management, all of that stuff was outdated…

To the point that it was impacting the company’s performance and efficiency.

So in his free time, he would improve the software.

Before he even realised the week was over, and Kira needed to attend his first ever cabinet meeting.

“Hmm, purple doesn’t look that bad.” Kira looked in the mirror. He was dressed in the purple suit Orb is known for. These are the clothes of nobles who are part of the ruling cabinet.

And now he is dressed in one.

“Blue and purple suit you the most, I think.” Lacus, who was making sure he was prim and proper, replied as she looked at him from top to bottom.

“Thankfully, these are stuffy.” He commented as he looked at the undershirt. It was a white, simple shirt. Very comfortable. It makes sense when you make an important decision to need to be as comfortable as possible, not forced or constrained.

Or at least that’s how he can see the purpose of such lax clothes.

“Well, we are in a tropical country, I don’t think people like to dress in stuffy clothes.” Lacus reasoned about the reason for such clothes.

“Maybe.” He didn’t deny or agree, he should ask Lord Uzumi why purple clothes.

“Anyway, you are ready to go. Didn’t you prepare a speech?” She asked curiously as she saw him type something on his laptop.

“No, I prepared bullet points. Speeches feel too… constraining, there is a reason why I pilot Freedom and not Constrain.” Kira laughed at his own joke.

Lacus snorted as she knew that he was nervous when he made random jokes like these.

“Don’t worry; you will impress them. I know that much.” The girl kissed him after she had said a couple of encouraging words.
