Raynor’s duel disk turner on as he pulled out five cards.

His eyes widened as he saw the first card, it was indeed Magician’s Valkyrie, alongside a spell card and a trap card that he had never had!

A spellbinding circle and a spellbook of secret arts.

He got a spell card and a trap card just from adding a monster to his deck. But these cards are not random; they are related to Magician’s Valkyrie.

At first, Raynor was worried about how he would get spells and traps, but now it was clear.

Those come with monsters. 

“I start first! Let’s see how good you are, human!” He pulled a card from his deck before checking his hand.

“First, I summon my Ruy-Kishin in attack position!” 

A familiar creature appeared on the field; it was the same pink thing Raynor saw chasing the Valkyrie.

At that moment, a blue window appeared next to Ryu-Kinshin, showing the monster’s attack and defence points.

It was weak as hell! Even weaker than most of Raynor’s monsters!

“Next, I activate my field spell card, Yami!” 

The cloaked being picked a card and inserted into a slot at the side of the duel disk. This caused the whole area to change into a dark purple miasma that started to roll through the whole forest area.

When Raynor looked around, he felt a cold chill pass through his whole being. This was crazy! The whole reality just shifted from a simple card!

“With this card, my Fiend monsters gain 200 attack points!” 

The numbers on the blue screen went up as Raynor saw the Ryu-Kishin gain power.

“Next, I activate my Equip Spell Card, Dark Pendant! Hahahaha, you have no idea how long I pursued to gain this card!” As the being laughed like a crazy fool, a spell card showed itself; it was a dark purple pendant that appeared around Ryu-Kinshin’s neck.

The attack rating went up by 500 points.

“This is how he nearly beat me. Be careful.”

A girl’s voice said to Raynor as he felt the Magician’s Valkyrie speak into his mind directly.

‘I see.’

“With that, I end my turn!” The cloaked being smuggly finished his turn.

“Alright. My turn.” Raynor drew a card and then checked his hand.

“First, I start with De-Spell.” The Slither duelist inserted a card in the spell/trap card slots.

“This spell card allows me to target a spell card on your side of the field and destroy it!” As Raynor said that a green card appeared in front of him. Showing an old style of lock getting unlocked.

“N-No! You can’t!” 

The cloaked being panicked. The duelist snorted. Is this evil thing seriously afraid of this?

At that moment, the pendant around Ryu-Kishin shattered like glass, and the glasses rushed towards Raynor.

“Oh crap!”

At that moment, they hit him as he lost 500 life points.

‘Shit, I forgot some of the cards do that!’

“Hahaha, you might have destroyed it, but you lost life points!” The cloaked enemy laughed, though his laugh was not as boastful as before.

“Yeah sure… whatever.”

Raynor rolled his eyes as next he took a card from his hand and summoned a monster.

“Next, I summon Feral Imp in attack mode!” 

The Slither placed a card, and a green monster with a long horn on its forehead appeared before him.

“It has 1300 attack points and is a fiend like yours! That means it gains 200 attack points from your Yami field card!”

“Now, Feral Imp attack that pink thing!” 

With that said, the imp creature dashed at the pink fiend before him. Ryu-Kishin tried to defend itself, but it shattered like glass.

“...You…” 

The cloaked being's life points went down by 300 points. 

Raynor checked the points. It would seem everyone in a duel starts with 4000.

“Before I end my turn, I place one card face down.”

A face-down card appeared behind Feral Imp, that has returned in front of Raynor.

“You will pay for destroying my minion! I summon myself!”

The faceless cloaked being, with anger, spoke as he slammed a card in the monster field.

A purple creature appeared on the field. The cloaked being has disappeared.

‘They can do that? Summon themselves!?’

“Yes. However, the game will end once he is destroyed. Not that he has any other monsters to use.”

The girl spoke directly into his mind.

‘...No other monsters?’

“You humans are funny. How many cards do you think Duel Monsters have? Only truly powerful creatures who have many followers can have huge decks.”

Raynor was baffled to hear that!

“I, Ryu-Kishin Powered, shall crush you, human!”

“And now I shall attack you!” 

With a roar, the creature dashed at the duelist’s Feral Imp.

“Yeah…how about no?” Raynor motioned, and a face down revealed itself.

“I activate my trap card! Spellbinding circle!”

A circle of magic appeared around Ryu-Kinshin, stopping him in his tracks.

“N-No, I can’t move…” 

“Since you paralysed him, his turn automatically ends! He can’t move! Nice way of using my spell!”

The girl exclaimed happily as she gushed at what she was seeing before her.

“Umm… really?” The Slither duelist looked surprised; he needed a second to understand what was happening in front of him.

“I guess it makes sense, since he summoned himself.” He scratched the back of his head with his free hand. These strange rules in the spirit realm are weird to say the least.

“Yes! Exactly!”

“Nice!” Raynor exclaimed before bringing his hand close to his deck.

“Then it’s my turn! I draw!” He drew a card, it was one of his Dark Rabbits. he ignored the card and instead focused on the ones he was holding.

“Let’s end this! I summon Magician’s Valkyrie in attack mode!” The Slither summoned his newest monster card.

“Yes! Finally!” The girl manifested before him, with a magic staff in hand, and there was a grin on her face. She was ready to crush this fiend!

“Since you used Yami field spell, her attack and defence go up as she is a Spellcaster.”

Valkyrie’s attack and defence went up by 200 points.

“Next, I use the equipment spell card spellbook of Secret Arts!” Raynor showed a green card on which there is a book.

“This card increases my Valkyrie’s attack and defence points by 300!” As he explained to the trembling fiend monster, his valkyrie was gushing at the prospect of a power-up.

He didn’t expect her to be…this animated. Though he did recall Dark Magician Girl to be cute in a similar way.

As the card was placed in the free hand of Valkyrie, a book manifested, and an aura surrounded her as her power went up.

“Now she is stronger than you! Attack that thing, Magician’s Valkyrie!” 

“With pleasure!” 

An orb of purple light appeared around her staff as she released the blast at Ryu-Kishin Powered, who was sweating bullets and looking at the incoming attack with horror.

Upon contact, there was an impressive explosion as the monster shattered into glass-like particles… then morphed into white orb-like energies.

“Quickly! Absorb his power!” 

“Huh? How?”  Raynor looked surprised.

“Get close and you will understand it.” Magician’s Valkyrie explained as she, Feral Imp and the other two cards disappeared from the field and magically returned to the deck.

He ignored the magic before him and walked over to the orbs. These energy orbs rushed at him, beginning to merge with his body.

“This duel was a death duel. Ryu-Kishin would have taken your body if he had won. However, the opposite was true as well.

Upon his defeat, he would lose his ego, and all that is left is his spirit energy. Now it's yours and his prized possession.”

As Valkyrie explained, Raynor looked around before checking the ground. It was a spell card.

“Dark Pendant.” He picked up, and then the card glowed before merging with his deck.

“Indeed, there are many ruins, temples and other strange places where you can find equipt magic or trap cards.”

“...Oh, that is nice.”

As he was awed by the magic of this place, how cards move without his input, he felt a surge of power as all of the orbs fused with his body.

That moment, his vision brightened as he felt a surge of power from the depths of his being.

‘What the…’

With a burst of light, Magician’s Valkyrie manifested next to him.

“Oh, much better.” The Spellcaster exclaimed as she stretched out.

“What just happened?” Raynor asked, and he was confused by the turn of events.

“Your spiritual powers have awakened; you just absorbed the power of three monsters. One of them was even a level 4 Duel Monster.” Valkyrie explained to him as she looked at him from top to bottom.

“Your power is now strong enough for me to manifest like this.” She stretched her hands as she motioned to him.

“I can assist you with quick battles now, too.” She explained to him as a smirk appeared on her face.

“Quick battles?”

“Indeed. Not all monsters have followers. Not everyone can fight you in a proper duel; that is why we can exchange attacks like this.” She expanded on the subject before winking at him.

“But it's good for us, as you have a legitimate deck with a pile of cards. You can boost my power.”  The Spellcaster girl smiled.

“I see. But why such eagerness to help me?” Raynor asked, he was a bit concerned how eager one can be to help him to slay other duel monsters like that…

However, his question confused her.

“You do realise that I exist to duel? It’s Duel Monsters' dream to have a proper duelist. You have no idea how Duel Monsters hoard their Duelists.” The girl showed an obsessive look for a second before getting close to him.

She almost hugged him all of a sudden, but then controlled herself.

“Besides… most importantly, you jumped in to save me. That is the most important thing~ my hero~” Valkyrie didn’t hold back anymore and hugged him.

Raynor turned stiff for a second before hugging her back. It was strange as… she felt like a living being…warm and all that stuff.

Can he now create solid duel monsters? Like in 5D’s? 

“Anyway~ what do you want to do now?” She asked him as she was done hugging.

“...It should be obvious… getting stronger, I need stronger cards. There are dangerous enemies on the horizon. 

Dark ones, and very dangerous.” Raynor explained to her in a serious voice, making her eyes harden.

“I see. I could take you to a Spellcaster-type area, but they are dangerous, potent traps and spells.

We could visit a warrior-type area…” She pondered for a second.

“What about dragons? I can assume they are mostly just strong physically.”

The Magician’s Valkyrie nodded as her eyes then brightened.

“Why don’t we steal some dragon eggs?” She giggled as her eyes gleamed for a second.

“Umm? What?” Raynor looked confused. What could he possibly do with eggs? Omelette?

“You can collect those eggs, feed them energy and let them hatch and then raise them. That’s what those harpies did. Once the dragons are fully raised, you will have powerful Duel Monsters that will listen to you.

This way you can even raise something like Blue-Eyes White Dragon, trust me.” She explained with a nod, her voice was excited, he could tell that she was more excited than he was…

“I can tell that it is dangerous, but I can see it working.” The Slither duelist sighed, but he could tell that this was far better than duelling legit, fully grown beasts.

“It will!”

Raynor can tell me that he is getting ‘trust me, bro’ vibes from her.

“Fine. Then let’s go, show me the way to this place.” He motioned for her to lead him.

As they began to walk, Raynor checked his duel disk…

He noticed that his life points weren't resetting, which was a bit concerning.

It would seem that his lifeforce does not reset easily; the most logical solution for him is that they will reset when he returns to his body.
