Yu-Gi-Oh Spirit Duelist c2

“Bad idea! Bad Idea!” One thing Raynor learned quickly in the Spirit Realm is that he needs to run…and a lot!

After getting the first spirit, he followed his new duel spirit’s directions and went towards a territory inhabited by dragons.

However, first they needed to pass the transitioning zone…where spellcasters and fiends transition to dragons.

To do that, they reached a mountainous area and entered a cave passageway. After having several short battles with rogue monsters who are on their own and absorbing their spirit energy, Raynor reached the end of the cavern.

On the other side, he found a mountainous valley with a huge tower in the middle of it.

Instead of going there, they were greeted by a pack of Curse of Dragon Monsters.

This is where Raynor can practise his running skills.

“Damn-Damn-Damn!” After dodging and rolling from cursed flames, the Slither duelist was able to hide for a second.

“Let’s end this!” He swifly pulled his new equip card and put it in the spell/trap slot, equipping his Magician Valkyrie.

“Destroy them, Valkyrie!” 

“On it!” 

The Spellcaster floated into the air and began to blast the Dark Dragons with her magic attacks.

Since she had her magic pendant, her attack points were at 2100, higher than the Curse of Dragon, which is at 2000.

After a short exchange, the Dragons shattered into countless shards of glass and then into balls of energy.

Raynor finally left his hiding spot behind a rock and walked over.

“Won’t you get stronger if you absorb these energies?” He asked her, wondering if he could make her even stronger.

“Not quite, I need much more than this to grow from the way I am. Such a thing would only work for beasts that need to mature.

Who has stages of growth. Like dragons.. we spellcasters are different, we need to master magic.” She explained while turning around and looking at him.

“Instead, for now, you should strengthen your soul so that you can wield stronger monsters.” The Magician Valkyrie looked at him with a smile.

“So there is that too…” Raynor realised that it made sense. Some monsters would only respect power, and he needs all sorts of monsters in his deck.

He walked to the front where the spiritual energies of five monsters surged and rushed towards the duelist…merging with him.

Raynor’s eyes began to glow as all the power of the level five monsters merged with his soul.

He felt a quadrupled increase in his strength. It was strange… he could tell that he was strong… but…

There is no simple way to check it out.

“Wait…” 

He pulled out his deck and checked his cards.

“Oh, there it is.”

The duelist singled out a single card, which was a spell card that dealt direct damage.

He pulled the card and pointed towards a boulder. His intent went on the card, and then he felt inner power surge through him into the card, and a ball of flames manifested above him before rushing into a boulder.

“...Oh… damn…” The boulder exploded like it was made from some fragile explosive material.

“Impressive! You can already summon spells at will! Your power has increased to this extent so quickly!” Valkyrie fangirled after seeing him doing that!

“Yeah… happens when you eat level five monsters like this.” Raynor joked. A bit concerned internally how much he can do already…on his first dive.

“At some point, it will plateau, so don’t worry.”

Her reaction only made him more worried! He recalled watching the anime and knows that these powers can influence their psyche!

“Relax, just master your powers, and you are all set.” She smiled even more, making Raynor sigh. He calmed down a bit, realising that there is no reason to worry now. He first needs to train and practise, only then worry if he can’t use these powers normally.

“Fine, then let’s continue to look for those eggs.” The duelist placed the damage-dealing card on the top of his deck before walking towards a random direction. His valkyrie followed him.

“Look! Look!” The Valkyrie loudly commented before realising that it was a bad idea…

Rumbling

Shockwaves and earth-shaking greeted them as the pair needed to hide behind a boulder. 

“Dragons are fighting.” Magician’s Valkyrie softly commented as there was an excited look on her face.

Raynor nodded as he needed to look where this was happening. 

He looked upwards and saw two western dragons, one was a bulkier and bigger brown dragon, and the other was a slender and ferocious-looking black dragon.

“Oh wow…” the girl looked where he was looking.

“Check them out! That brown dragon is Tyrant Dragon! With a special ability that allows it to destroy spells and traps!” She commented while observing.

“And the other one? I think I saw that one before.” 

“Oh, that one? It’s just a regular Red-Eyes Black Dragon.” She shrugged while saying that.

“...You don’t sound impressed.” 

“Well, that’s because he is a regular dragon. A solidary creature, not a rare one either, you can find them if you are looking around.

Unlike the Tyrant Dragon, which has a special ability.” She explained that the brown dragon smacked the black one with its tail to the ground. 

Upon smacking into the ground, the dragon released a torrent of flames that burned the dragon away. Red-Eyes Black Dragon shattered like glass before turning into pure energy.

The Tyrant Dragon roared, before looking around… looking towards them.

“Oops?” Magician’s Valkyrie commented as the Dragon rushed towards them.

Raynor grimaced as he pulled out the top card from his deck.

He sent balls of flames at the dragon. But the brown Beast simply tanked the attack and continued to rush towards them.

But the duelist didn’t stop as he made more flames.

This was something the dragon didn’t expect as the flames slammed into the flying duel monster, causing it to tumble down on the ground.

It wasn’t over as Raynor made more of the flames, ready to attack again.

“Hahahaha! A human! I was wondering how you can keep on attacking me with the same spell over and over again!” The dragon rolled on the ground before standing up.

“What of it?” Raynor and his Valkyrie revealed themselves.

“Such a rare opportunity.” The dragon slowly lowered his head and looked at him.

The pair of them gazed into each other's eyes. Raynor was not backing down. After learning that he can fight back with cards, he has a bit of confidence now.

“Of what?”

“You are a strong human. Why don’t we join forces?” The dragon suggested.

“For what kind of reason?”

The dragon looked to the side at the tower in the distance.

“That is the throne of the Dragon Lord. You have the potential to claim his throne. I can help you.”

“Dragon Lord?” Raynor immediately remembered a specific card…used by Kaiba, the Lord of D.

“Indeed. He has been the ruler of these lands for many years. I am tired of it. I desire a replacement.

A human ruling dragons… that would be interesting, don’t you think?” The Tyrant Dragon showed its teeth, looking amused by such an opportunity.

‘A delinquent dragon…just great….but…’

Honestly, this suggestion…

“I am interested. Tell me what kind of dragons reside in that tower.”

“What kind of dragon is not there? You do realise it's Dragon Lord. Blue Eyes, Red Eyes, lesser dragons, elemental dragons, just a few from the top of my head.”

Raynor's eyebrows twitched for a second. That's… well, a lot.

Something like a deck based around dragons.

“In that case, I need spells and traps to have even the smallest chance of victory.” The duelist realised that dragons are brutes; he needs finesse to beat them.

“Hehehe, if you want spells and traps, you should come to my place.” The Magician’s Valkyrie said with a smirk.

“A spellcaster’s place would give you what you want. So what is it going to be, human? Do you dare to invade Dragon Lord’s Domain?” Tyrant Dragon asked him. The brown dragon’s eyes were gleaming with mischief.

“If you will help, then yes. I do need a strong deck for things to come.” Raynor seriously nodded.

“Hahaha! Then it’s settled!” With a burst of light, the dragon turned into white energy and rushed into his deck.

Raynor checked out. What he got was three cards…

“Oh…”

He inspected the Dragon’s card.

A fire-type dragon with two special effects…

Attack power of 2900 and defence power of 2500…

‘What a beast…’ 

He was surprised by sheer power.

“Truly a tyrant, he can attack twice, and destroy traps if they are directed at him.” He explained to his valkyrie.

“Nothing about spells. Only traps, Valkyrie.” Raynor looked at her with a smirk.

“Hehehe, I guess I mixed those up!” The Spellcaster girl joked.

“Yeah…” He smiled for a second. Now that he has a big shot, he can do some serious damage.

After checking Tyrant Dragon, he checked his other two cards.

‘Heavy Storm and Dust Tornado? Damn!’

The extras he got were incredible!

“These two…they wil come in handy.” He commented.

“Oh, not bad, I suppose they manifested from Dragon’s sheer destructive ability. I guess beating wings is a good skill.” Valkyrie joked even more; it was hilarious to her.

“The more the better.” Raynor shook his head.

“Don’t forget to absorb the energy from that lesser dragon. I didn’t touch it.  Now, if you excuse me, I will take a nap.” Dragon’s booming voice nearly yanked Raynor from his skin as the beast roared directly in his mind.

“S-Shit!” The teen duelist took a deep breath. He nearly dropped his cards.

“Don’t scare me like that… sheesh!” The Slither duelist complained before storing the cards away and walking towards the location where the Red Eyes had died.

As he got into the middle of the clearing, he got closer to the crater. The white energies rushed towards him. Raynor didn’t react to it. He had already got used to it.

But then he felt a surge of power invade him. It was so powerful that he nearly dropped to his knees.

“D-Damn… It's only 400 points… of difference, why does it feel so different!” He grimaced from pain, and after a while, he calmed himself while taking a breath.

“It's the levels,” Valkyrie commented as she looked at him with crossed arms.

“While Red Eyes is a weaker monster compared to Tyrant Dragon, it’s still a level Seven monster.” 

“I-I see…” He nodded while looking at his hand. He felt even stronger.

His eyes moved up from his hand forward. What he saw…was a cave.

“What is that over there? A cave?” He asked while looking at where he was 

“Hmm?” Her gaze went where he pointed.

“Oh! A Nest! Most likely belonged to Red Eyes! Let’s go quickly!” She flew away towards them. Raynor followed after her. By this point, he is used to running…

Moments later, he entered the cavern. It was quite a huge cavern.

“C’mon! I can see something.” Valkyrie spoke from a deeper part of the cave.

“Don’t run off like that.” He complained that after taking a turn, he found the end and discovered a nest made from branches and leaves. It was a huge thing, and in the nest were three black eggs.

“Yes! I knew it! Look! These are black eggs of Red Eyes Black Dragon!” The Spellcaster girl gushed at the sight before her.

“Yeah, but what now?” He asked, How is he supposed to raise them into a Level Seven monster?

“Claim them! They don’t have an ego. Just use your spiritual power.” 

“And how am I supposed to raise them?” He asked, with a not-so-sure tone.

“After this, each time you beat a monster instead of absorbing energy yourself, just make the eggs absorb it.” She explained with a ‘duh’ tone.

“I see…”

Raynor walked and placed his hand on a huge basketball-sized egg. 

Then channelled his energy through his intent. Next moment, the egg glowed and became a normal-type card.

“Red Eyes Black Dragon Egg…” 

He read the card… it had zero attack and zero defence.

And it was a level 1 monster.

After checking the card, he went to do the same with the other two eggs.
