Kate would have attacked Scott wherever he was anyway. Kate is a were-cheetah. The cheetahs are connected to the beserkers and have control over them. It was explained in season 1 that the people of that village were praying to the Nagual (cheetah) god. I don't remember how the connection between the came about tho. La loba and the bone woman are all names for Kate. It's because of the fact that she controls and can make the beserkers who are covered in bones.
