Welcome to Episode 38 of What about it!?

In this Episode, we will summarize the anual SpaceX Starship Presentation 2019 in a nutshell. We will see, how Starship and Super Heavy have evolved since the last presentation and what SpaceX has planned for our future in space. For all of those, who did not have time to watch the live presentation and do not want to watch 1.5 hours worth of Elon talk!

That weekend is still somewhat like a blurr... :D Starship, in all that it does, is so different in approach than anything ever done before. I really hope, SpaceX can do this. It will be much more of a game changer than Falcon9 was.

100% agree. It looks like out of this world. Starship is, like the Space Shuttle was, despite it's cost problem, something completely new. Its usecases and possibilities are gigantic. Most still can't see, what this will change, if SpaceX can really pull it off. Rapid and fully reusable rockets with little to no maintenance. This takes away 95% of the launch costs on a Rocket, that can lift 100 tons to LEO!

I am guessing this was a tough episode to get out with a short turnaround from backing up after a mammoth live stream, well done with the recap of the presentation, again impressive episode linking the overall information 👍. Having been involved with a sheet metal fabrication workshop in the past, I very keen to see how SpaceX will refine their manufacturing / assembly processes of the upcoming Starships and Super Heavy with the 301 SS in either a custom sheet form or rolled coil form and were the join location will be (Hopefully the majority of the welded joints are on the heat shield side). Loved the outtake "Elon committed himself". 😆

You know Felix the whole night of the presentation seems like a dream but all one has to do is open up the live Boca Chica live stream to see that this giant rocket is quite real and equally enduring. I loved your coverage of the event; your enthusiasm, knowledge and desire to interact with the audience made the event that much more enjoyable to witness. I remember people lamenting the fact that the second stage of Falcon 9 would likely never be able to be recovered because it was traveling too fast. I think it was brilliant to make the first stage SuperHeavy and the second stage Starship since the latter can be recovered when it lands on a planet's surface at the end of the mission so that creates a 100% reusable vehicle.

Felix, did you ever determine why some of us were experiencing a delay? As for his mentioning his plans for future versions, he noted they planned to take rolls of Stainless and cut off lengths so there would only be one vertical weld per section. The steel would also be thinner, thus reducing weight.

Hey Felix, I can't find the exact time, but I remember Elon saying something about the steel, that they will use other processes (instead of the rings), that will reduce the weight and improve savety. To me it sounded a little like 3D-printing. Wouldn't that be awesome? Also, it fits, because they are building the chassy for Model Y as one piece, instead of 25 (sry, can't remember where he said it). Greetings
